DRDO and PSUs

nah, carry on. i am trying to figure out why there was spike in agri exports in 2013.
That was part of prompt response:) but i understand they lifted ban of export on certain items and expanded market

Saurav Jha in the IAH episode he hosted last night with Sriram Thyagarajan seemed to suggest that the ALH issues were more or rather exclusively political instead of technical leaving it at that without elaborating probably coz the issue is sensitive.

What exactly is the issue remains unknown ?!

Issues move from technical to political when there is a disagreement on the technical.

ALH rotor swashplate issue is not new, and it has been studied in detail.

Issue identified -> Investigation -> Fix -> Fleet-wide fix in batches -> Issue fixed.

First 2 steps has been completed, either things stopped at 3rd or 3rd step never finished properly.

How is this political ? HAL has been called out multiple times for pushing band-aid fixes to critical issue and stamp a "chalta hai" instead of figuring out a way to solve it.

I have a stinking suspicion that the issue was improperly identified - That crashes continued after the control rods replacement indicates that the root cause wasnt control rods, control rods were just the first thing to fail. Unless the root cause is addressed, problem will keep shifting to whatever weakest link is left after the last bandaid solution.

The bandaid solution complaint seems to be a recurring one and one that doesnt seem to have been addressed, atleast nothing to indicate it has.

5 year old interview.
'Bdl can produce 60 akash missiles per month'
The much touted public number of akash is said to be around 15500 units
Hypothetically if 60 per month then since it's production in 2007-8 approx 1250 units of akash 1,1s,prime are rolled out. Who knows how much it can be scaled up when needed.

it's unit cost back then was 2.5 crore back in 2010. After this level of mass production it shouldn't have been much different probably around 2.5-3.5 crore today being conservative. Even the akash 1s which got seeker head shouldn't cost more than 4.5crore just assumption or maybe even more or less I have no idea. Who knows akash 1s would cost & So the akash prime
The scale of production is unbelievable airforce has this missile in very huge numbers. Army inducted in 2015 while airforce started receiving from 2008 onward.

There was rumour Armenia brought 400 units of this missiles which seems true. As the deal costed just around 6000cr. Most likely a akash prime which is cold wheather oriented variant.
Current fielded AESA radar numbers are significantly low both ground based as well airborne. Once Akash Ng along with there AESA radars achieves this level of production it would add significantly to our conventional deterance.
