6:57:00 hours this guy is a junior scientist from directorate of indigenization. You wonder why nothing good comes out of psu and other government agencies.

Host takes a good pot shot on it by saying play Punjabi music after 11:30 or something.

I believe in there are no stupid questions but this is getting on my nerves.

Not stupid. I think question formulation was issue and he seemed bit nervous.

Submarine Carrier like HMS M2 and I 400 of ww2 can make comeback in case of large UUV launching UAVs.

It happens in pvt sector too. In meetings a person would try raise a point /suggestion which everyone would laugh off. Talk to him/her in relaxed environ, and thats when they are able to explain their point and more than often its important point well considering.

I was sure one of you going to come up with WW2 to defend him.

This is not the case again I already wrote there are no stupid question but in this situation that does not apply. Calling a spade a spade. You can keep defending him and things will never change.

Charlie not your fault. Some people like to see exacting standards in professionals. In my experience some fella who has passed gruelling examination, rounds to get in DRDO is not dumb. He /She may not be articulative.
Question arises: why would such a question be asked at this stage?

The above question should be pondered with another question previously asked about Organizational Entrepreneurship.

Both above questions point me to one thing- there is no avenue for creative innovation in DPSU without getting marred by heavy red tape.

Which answers why a Junior officer asked such question in first place in such event. He may not have place to validate his ideas.

Do DPSU havr ideation process similar to what is there during Design thinking?

I hope drdo had some kind of consultation with the Russians on producing a system like Pantsir.
We lack in 3 things here-
1. Compact command guided bi-calibre missiles, these are cheap compared to our usual SAM designs with seeker inside it
2. High fire rate 2a38 guns, these may be ditched in favor of 2a42 bmp guns which we do make in India, given that they are equipped with airburst ammo and main mission of guns is last ditch defense against missiles and drones.
Btw, Rof of 2a42 is 25% of 2a38.
3. And as usual we suck in packaging and presentation. We can't even copy the system well. So better get Russian consultation on this.

All and all aside from packaging and perhaps the lightweight missiles with considerable range, we can make all things here.

Don't argue me on substandard system like Korean biho. Only has a 2D search radar and uses EO for tracking, no radar tracking at all.

Our ADGMS which will accompany our mech formations should be solely focused on taking out PGMs, missiles, UAVs, Helis first and then Aircrafts. Future is of using long range vectors by aircraft without coming into launch range of SAMs. I believe air defense systems have to shift more towards missile/pgm defense rather than towards conventional air defense.

An indianised version of this is perfect for our mechanised force

There was a reported development of laser beam guidance by drdo.
Here is a system based on it, perhaps drdo might take some inspiration for AD version of Whap. Consult Russians if you have to.

Plama air defense with 10km range and laser beam guided missile.

I am highly sceptical of any VHORADS based system for few reasons.
1. Range of 6-8km is lacking.
2. Is more suitable for mounting on Humvee or MRAP type vehicles, and obviously in mountain regions where a tripod system has superior versatility to plug AD holes than that of any vehicle based system.
3. I doubt there are many successes of shooting down PGMs or missiles with a LOBL IR guided missiles.

So, thumbs up to VSHORADS for defence against helicopters, low tier UAVs and any aircraft trying to use dumb bombs on us(I doubt that would be such a case in future) but I don't think it can perform any missile defence role or like.

Also, a laser beam guided missile should be cheaper than a IIR seeker missile.

his linkedin says, he is from MoD not DRDO.

Then I am glad that babus are also expressing ideas. This is exactly what is needed. Fertile imagination in thinking products and not in creating RFPs. 😬

that's between him and his boss, no point in spending too much time on us doing his appraisal here. but within extroverts there are multiple types, there are the dumb ones, normal ones, and the intelligent ones.

Usually people are mixture of above three. Sometime intelligent people present normal idea / thought in dumb way. Agreed his appraisal is OT. My retort was idea is brilliant but put in dumb way. UUV armed with drone launch shall be pff immense use in surveillance and sabotage ops.
