Why is the Govt suddenly so generous?
Did they realize that today is indeed the era of war?
Now imagine if you put multiple of these in space so that you can maintain constant track of the target.
Not to mention tracking carrier strike groups and ships and guiding the missiles towards them.
Even aircraft like awacs, transport can be located tracked and a missile( if having enough range and secure data link) can be guided to the those relatively slow moving targets( Chinese are playing with a concept if large 1000+km range air to air awacs/transport killer missile)
Can even locate formations of enemy fighter(including stealth) jets coming in for a mission( even L band and VHF radars have limit at what range they can locate the stealth jets).
With constellation of large no.( 100s to possibly 1000+)Of these satellites in space (As planned by US and China for future ), the surprise element is lost for all assests( including stealth jets) except "maybe" submarines.
Not to mention future plans for fast mobile satellite launching vehicle to quickly replace lost/destroyed satellites.
The amount of data sharing that warfare of the future will host, is mind blowing in literal sense.
Yeah i think there was a news of smart satellites of around budget 50K Crores. We have any such plans for satellite constellations?
IIRC we seem to have over 9000 satellite startups but only ISRO can put their sats into orbit, no other rocket-dhari private sector company is there
In very early stage. We have any such plans for satellite constellations?
IIRC we seem to have over 9000 satellite startups but only ISRO can put their sats into orbit, no other rocket-dhari private sector company is there
SBS-3We have any such plans for satellite constellations?

Costing ₹26,968 crore, the proposal involves the construction and launch of 21 satellites by ISRO and the remaining 31 by private companies.

India Taps Private Sector to Speed Up Military Satellite Launches Amid Rising China Challenge
India is taking a decisive leap in military space capabilities by launching an ambitious satellite program under the third phase of its Space-Based Surveillance (SBS-III) project. Announced during thebharatshakti.in
Drdo is along working on 50+ new "AI" powered surveillance satellite.
So total 100 planned for now.
But as said, the no. Of planned satellites Is two low for the type of capabilities were talking about here.
US military already have 240+ satellite with 100-150 being surveillance ones.
They plan for 1000+ future AI powered surveillance satellites for 24/7 coverage Including 24/7 capability to not just detect but also track fighter jet movement anywhere in china and pacific ocean and still having significant satellites focused on other parts of the world, while also being highly redundant to ASAT weapons due to sheer no.
In case of India 400+ is needed to have "same" capabilities but localised in China, pakistan, India and indian ocean region.
Plus 1000s of communication sats like startlink has.
In case of India 400+ is needed to have "same" capabilities butwhat XYZ country does, should not matter. India's security establishment executes as per own doctrine, requirements and priorities, which is primarily immediate neighbourhood and IOR.
So, the 'Penetration-cum-blast' finally reaches the US audience!!

The APHE has small amount of explosive that will spray inside a tank after penetrationSerious question .. Does the PCB use a charge to breach the fortification or is it only an APHE shell.
In case of India 400+ is needed to have "same" capabilities but
" *****localised in China, pakistan, India and indian ocean region*****"
Plus 1000s of communication sats like startlink has.
And it does matter, their actions shape the future battlefield and create blueprint, and indian establishment has long history of looking at that blueprint.
The question is does it use a charge to breach the fortification or not.The APHE has small amount of explosive that will spray inside a tank after penetration
PCB has relatively large proper explosives to be used inside a bunker.
APHE has much more penetration power as it was designed to be used against tanks and small explosive as you didn't need more to be used inside the small space of tank.
PCB is designed to be used against bunkers/fortification so not as much penetration against tanks as APHE but much bigger explosive.
With FSAPDS rounds becoming common, need of APHE is dying, atleast as primary anti tank/armour round.
As for other tasks like anti infantry, anti bunker/fortification, PCB is better suited than APHE.
I already listed money thing in previous comments when I replied to shadewhy don't you list out all ongoing and planned procurement programmes along with their costs and delivery timelines including infra projects in border areas. may be we can figure out what our security establishment is prioritising as per the current "blueprint".
ultimately money supply is not unlimited, all militaries across the world prioritises as per their plans and resources.
such a list will be useful for other discussions on the forum as well.
