Project Kusha must be fast tracked in war mode. We can clearly see the difference presence of long range SAMs make. Paki jets are flying low in their own territory unable to attack us. They have clear disadvantage due to the fact that Pakistan hardly has 500 kms width. Hence it is nearly covered with our S-400. We must fast track Project Kusha to have an indigenous solution and also extend its range to cover 400-450 kms and deploy it in huge numbers.

And we must also develop our indiegnous stand off weapons to overcome enemy air defence and hit them from far away.

DRDO conducts successful Release Trials of Long-Range Glide Bomb ‘Gaurav’ from Su-30 MKI aircraft

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the Release Trials of Long-Range Glide Bomb (LRGB) ‘Gaurav’ between April 08-10, 2025 from the Su-30 MKI aircraft. During the trials, the weapon was integrated to multiple stations in different warhead configurations, with land target on Island. The trials successfully demonstrated range close to 100 kms with pin-point accuracy.





LRGB ‘Gaurav’ is a 1,000 kg class glide bomb, designed and developed indigenously by Research Centre Imarat, Armament Research and Development Establishment and Integrated Test Range, Chandipur. Senior officials of DRDO and the Indian Air Force (IAF) participated and reviewed these trials.





The system has been realised with the support of Development-cum-Production Partners - Adani Defence Systems & Technologies, Bharat Forge and various MSMEs. The trials are paving the way towards induction of the weapon into the IAF. The Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification and Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance contributed towards Certification and Quality Assurance.

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh complimented DRDO, IAF and industry for successful development trials of ‘Gaurav’. He said the development of LRGB will further enhance the capabilities of the Armed Forces to a great extent.

Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Dr Samir V Kamat also congratulated the entire DRDO team on conducting the successful release trials.

I have been hearing about DRDO's D4 system which played a huge role in neutralizing the swarm drones by non kinetic means including lasers. Similarly the role played by integrated air defence system like Akashteer, Akash SAMs and all the indigenous systems which protected our bases and HVTs is the real game changer. This proves that how our systems have matured and now can be relied upon to augment our defenses. Salute to our scientists and engineers without whom this would not have been possible. Now it's upto the govt and military leadership to show faith in our homegrown systems and trust our MICs to deliver. Let's try to decouple our military hardwares from foreign vendors as much as we can.

ADA/ADE needs to start another 5th Gen Fighter project similar to J-36. Just relying on AMCA will not work since it is an Medium weight plane and we need J-36 equivalent.

This is exactly what we need. You need a plane with big ass internal bays to deliver big ass payloads.
I believe, it all depends on IAF if they ask Drdo to make such a system. Maybe, first flight of AMCA and Ghatak will give them some confidence, will prove a lot of tech for 5+ gen planes.
I hope we sort out the engine situation as well. And better start a program for big ass stealth plane, as it will easily take 10-12 years for first induction from project conceptualization phase.

Anyway don't hate me if I say J-36 is a superb concept materialised in reality. It solved their long range anti air, anti AWACS, heavy strike both in land/sea domain, very long range capability and disadvantages of planes taking from Tibet.

IAF would be hard pressed in developing countermeasures against this.

it all depends on IAF if they ask Drdo to make such a system.

They will ask but the requirements will include it should shoot lasers and have anti-gravity technology.
Obviously it will get delayed, and then an RFP tender will be released to Buy From 5 Places, candidates will be FCAS, GCAP, F-47 wagera

Guys I think we should also finally formulate for system like Israeli iron dome, German sky knight or Korean LAMD for protection against mass strikes from precision guided munitions barrage.

I am quite sure, Pak will be studying this defeat and will try to find new ways, one of which will.be definitely mass fires. And air defense against mass fires is no easy task.
