Ladies and gentleman, LRAShM has been successfully tested today at around 7 PM.

First stage uses K4 1.4 m dia booster. Second stage is a brand new glide vehicle with its own propulsion. Those long chord short span wings will increase the L/D ratio of this vehicle beyond traditional MaRV and unlike pure wave rider HGV with blended wing body, the unique configuration of this stage will generate lift even below hypersonic speeds and make it highly agile.

So Hypersonic Glide Vehicles it seems are two types:
1. Pure Glide Vehicles with no Propulsion like DF-ZF and LRHW
2. Boost Glide Vehicle with Propulsion that makes it even more maneuverable during Mid-Course phase like the rumored OpFires.

Will have to see which one is this and how fast it is during Mid-Course.

Good news everyone. Our favourite DPSU AWEIL namely GCF Jabalpur after our favourite lab ADE now has a fig leaf known as L&T behind which it's concealing its nudity for the latest tender viz TGS.

What this means is L&T will produce the assemblies if they're awarded the tender & AWEIL will do the final assembly & badge it .

Why ? Because since 2019 GCF is struggling to deliver 114 nos 39 cal 155 mm Dhanush howitzers . Up until date they've delivered all of 24 nos which is a great achievement by their standards.

I am more interested in the article which is left of LRAShM. Seems like a hypersonic system.

If import and that of a MBT based on Western design philosophy is the only option then it's the most bang for buck despite all its flaws.

Well,

it's L/45 cal.

If booster's 1.4m then second stage should be roughly 750mm and the warhead looks like 500x700mm.

Okay, so now tell me what are the odds that this thingy is using a modified Shaurya motor (shortened in length from 5m to 3.5m but slower burning) and BrahMos warhead!?

None of those probably

Based on this image I don't think it's any kind of glide vehicle; definitely the 4x big wings and body would generate some lift but not anywhere close to that of a dedicated glide vehicle.

The best analogue I can draw to this would be a two stage dart type surface-to-air missile on all kinds of banned steroids.
Like the smaller missiles on Pantsir

Or the much bigger Aster-30s

The 1st rockets burn with an extreme thrust but for a very short period of time and then gets detached with the "dart" easily at Mach 4 range.
And then the 2nd stage kicks in and maintains the speed above Mach 3 till the endgame.

Looks kinda like an SM-6, no??

Looks kinda like an SM-6, no??
Yeah, kind of.
But in SM-6 the second stage motor is not that smaller in diameter than the first. I mean there the first stage is used primarily to clear the missile from the VLS, change the orientation and just give some velocities before the 2nd kicks in. Here the emphasis is on getting as much velocity as possible.
What is that helo on nose tip?
Nothing, most probably it's the cover.
Those kind of frangible covers are supposed to be pierced by the missile when clearing the canister but it seems that the missile took it for a ride too
