Ohhh C'mon...as of now this whole IDDM thing has been reduced to just a joke by our DhandhoMaxxing businesses.

They came with IDDM and we answered that by ScrewdriverGiri
To counter this they came up with min xx% of indigenous content and we tackled that by using xx% indigenous content by number

I mean not typical Dhandomaxxers... Looks like honest attempt by EEL, BHEL. If its Adani Or some 2-Rupees Private Company never heard before, then it's going to be Jhumla.

Definition of Acquisition CategoriesBuy (Indian-IDDM)

'Buy (Indian-IDDM)' category refers to the procurement of products from an Indian vendor meeting one of the two conditions:
- products that have been indigenously designed, developed and manufactured with a minimum of 40% IndigenousContent (IC) on cost basis of the total contract value; Or
- products having 60% IC on cost basis of the total contract value, which may not have been designed and developed indigenously.

Apart from overall IC as detailed above, the same percentage of IC will also be required in (a) Basic Cost of Equipment; (b) Cost of Manufacturers‟ RecommendedList of Spares (MRLS); and (c) Cost of Special Maintenance Tools (SMT) and SpecialTest Equipment (STE), taken together at all stages, including FET stage. The onus of proving that the equipment design is indigenous, rests with the vendor and such vendor claims will be verified by a committee comprising scientists from DRDO and representatives from SHQs, based on documents issued by authorised agencies and presented by the vendors. The process of verifying the availability of indigenous design and development should be completed prior to fielding of Statement of Case (SoC) for categorisation; guidelines pertaining to the same will be issued by the DG (Acquisition),with inputs from DRDO.

Vikramaditya will retire by mid 30s. 2 AC will join with capacity minimum of 30 each. If shore based facilities included, the number can touch 100.
Things would've been better if IAF jurnails weren't so dense and had joined for ORCA project.
Nonetheless as Indranil said turning a DBF into AF variant is not difficult process so hopefully when TEDBF flies, sense prevails in AF.

It has better lift/glide ability, more manurabilty, better control, can do terminal maneuvers and can Attack moving targets.

You can also consider it as an powered HGV which has pretty low glide ratio but pretty high manurabilty.

As for a type, it doesn't fit any traditional category.
It's unique, India is the only one with this.

I want to ask a doubt after hesitating s lot because may be it could be answered 100th on this thread but still,
Ballistic missiles can reach upto mark 24 (like agni). So how this thing is so different if it is not cruise missile and why there is so much shout about it because there are several quasi ballistic missiles too. Is it just about the fact that it is a ballistic missile that can reach hypersonic speeds and maneuver a bit in end game like a quasi ballistic missile.

Those ballistic missiles that can reach mach 24 are ICBMs/IRBMs.

This missile is a lot more manurable and unpredictable than a quasi-ballistic missile, that's why a drdo scientist giving speech called it "not a hypersonic cruise missile but like a hypersonic cruise missile".
