I do not think that it is a threat, if we have a system to keep them on a leash. While Dr Jaishankar has good interests at heart and does his work dedicatedly, others may not be so dedicated to the country. Most of these people whose kith and kin live overseas are under study from those intelligence agencies.
The CIA with its infinite reach across Western prestigious institutions is very smart to pick on this. They track down the family members of these bureaucrats and offer their family members tempting positions in universities, news media, and other large corporations in exchange for favors.
If someone as advanced as China is unable to stem the flow of its skilled people migrating to the West, there's little that we can do except monitor until we level a quality of life that matches or outpaces the West.
And that might take a while. I say
might, because the rate at which Western countries are weakening is unpredecented. Wokism, neo-socialism combined with Gen Z liberal/progressive drama has turned most Western economies belly-up.
Europe is practically dead, with some economic progress in
Visegrad countries like Poland, Romania and Hungary. However, East Europe remains miserably corrupt to a large extent. Poland will progress as it utilized its post-Communism momentum well and retains some of the most productive factories by European standards.
Germany holds the West European fort, while France and the UK have capitulated to the Islamist immigrants they invite in droves. The French industrialist elite such as those running top tech companies like Safran, Dassault and Thales are living in elite, immigrant-free neighborhoods, while the political class in France are now resembling the bourgeuoise they once despised. In fact, a recent report came out that spoke of a record number of millionaires are
fleeing the UK. While it is hard to say how authentic it is, given Western hyperbole and sensationalism, the sun is setting even on the United Kingdom. Italy and Spain are just the tourism spots of Europe so there's nothing much happening there.
US will likely pull some strings on the existing family members of the IAS, generals and the elites, but the option of moving to the West will continue shrinking as these countries weaken in the next two decades.
