I don't know if the economy thread is the right place to post it or not but on reddit I keep hearing these arguments that India is collapsing, India is a failed state but the irony of these statements is that the most opportune moment for collapse was right after independence when we had no state resources

Arguably during the 80s when we were going through bankruptcy due to the continued failed economic policies of that time and the riots was another time where we could have collapsed as an nation.
but saying these things in the current times when we are the 4th largest economy and an healthy growth rate is crazy. In almost all of reddit and X there is just constant doomerism.
I was reading the above threads and as someone from the generation who grew up in the early 2000s it does feel like until 2011 there was a constant upliftment and positive outlook about our future. Now this is obviously nostalgia glasses as we were protected kids at that time with our parents having secure private sector jobs in the metros.
Reddit sadly has fallen to the same left echo chamber reactions of the world is a terrible place and India is akin to a failed state where nothing good is happening
