@ezsasa , you might want to read this gem from Pindu, author seems very salty, he wants Indian students to learn "muh basics" and how research used to better back then than now, even though Indian started becoming a serious player in global patent research publican very recently.

yes, shady scientific journals is an ongoing issue not just in India but across the world, which impacts quality of research. journals are relevant for Phd, patents is a separate story. when one knows your Phd is going to be published in some obscure journal with less scrutiny, quality of thesis drops.

in humanities research, up until a few years ago a lot of our online quarrels were because some journal printed some stupid nonsense about India, and commies online used that as their validation to target India. and because that something was printed in some journal backed by commie exfarts building citation loops, would immediately be picked up by MSM for their headlines and paint it as a fact to target India.

rest of the points about academic industry, i don't have much insight for assessment.
