Indian Small Arms and Weapons

no not talking about recent AKs like 203 , just decades old AKs with just better bought optics instead of sigs.

plenty of pics of both russia ukraine soldiers with Ak-74 , akm , 47 , ak-12

pics just using as reference , not off topic
Might as well use the AKs' captured from terrorists in that case and the Paras would be lucky enough to use the M4s'

I also don't think anyone would want to go with an age-old rifle with wooden furniture on it and even if we did, our UN generals will find a way to screw it up and bump up the price. Oth, this isn't really about the money but more about education, awareness and willingness. If IA gives SSS a chance, I'm sure they can offer their P72 or M72 rifles for <~$700 a piece for volume orders

BEL Holosight.
@Ayan Barat On a side note, the placement/eye relief is based on the shooters perspective right as long as its properly zeroed?

Correct
Red dot/holographic sights don't have their own eye relief like you get on typical sights so you can mount them anywhere you want.

Though as a rule of thumb they're usually mounted in a way that they don't interfere with your helmet mounted NVGs

I've often seen Paras place their optic pretty far ahead which imo doesn't make sense unless they're coupling the red dot/holo with something else like a magnifier/IR

I had the experience of trying out a few ARs' with red dots and I personally felt anything farther than where the trigger is kinda screws up the weight balance and possibly affects maneuverability

I think this is mainly due to thier experience with tavor and mepro mor pro
This makes sense for tavor 21/x 95 but it doesn't make sense for m4 or AK

It's something very specific

Remove M4, AK-203, Tavor and everything form the picture and assume you've a good old AK-47. At some point it got quad rail handguard and further down the line it got a railed dustcover, but not that good at retaining zero. So where exactly you'd put that sight on that AK? Well exactly where you're seeing it on the above M4.

Now add things like training, muscle memory, culture, norm, also the fact that at some point you might use pretty heavy NVGs and you get this arrangement of holographic sight.

But when did we ever use optics with an AK/Insas for our men to be trained on those lines or retain muscle memory. The mods from Fab defense or SSS were extremely limited afaik. Our men don't even use the flip-on sights on these Sigs

Unlike the Marcos, IA and their SOF don't seem to learn from their western counterparts during joint exercises

He's lack of basic firearms knowledge.

Like comparing a short-recoil, semi auto, .50 Cal anti-material rifle to a bolt action sniper rifle.

Even if his intent was to say that SSSD rifle is copied then also he chose such a off example that Bro lost all his credibility

PS : Stop paying attention to everything you see on Twatter, you'll get unprecedented levels of mental peace. Or if there's no other option then atleast once go through the person's timeline to get an idea about them

Ready for WW2

copy karo toh aise karo ki sambhog ka mann kar jay😂🤣😂🤣
Nothing wrong in copying as long as its reliable and quality is good . Learn from Chincoms

Also what's with this moral high ground we Bharatiyas want to occupy wrt copying? Hasn't the west looted us enough for 2 centuries and stolen from us as well as got the basic foundations of maths & science from us via the arabs ? Why do we still bow down and kow tow to their IP laws ? Fk them

It's internet copium when either the Bat-munchers or those Ottoman Cockroaches come and flex their defense bling in our face.

Speaking of the Afeemchis, we don't know where they would be today if not for the Tiananmen Square Massacre embargoes, it is why they are Atmanirbhar today.

Before that it was import hi import, obviously not on the level of our uniformed and UPSC passing sellouts, but still, their Destroyers of which only two were built were powered by GE LM2500 engines for e.g, the Americans also sold them a fighter jet engine with """"ToT"""""( Sounds similar? Yes )

One of their mainstay military choppers is also a copy of the French one they purchased in the past, i'm sure more such examples can be found by digging further.

Before the Crimea grab of 2014, the Russians had placed orders for 2x Mistral-class LHDs from France, which France didn't deliver because of Crimea grab, today Russians have their own LHD design( it's another thing they can't produce it, no paisa )

Necessity is the mother of invention
Pray that this necessity doesn't strike when it's the Chings and Pakis attacking us.

Totally agree with you, there shouldn't be anything wrong with copying. But I just have a little doubt. So let's assume I just copied a SIG Sauer rifle and I'm making it here in India. Now you tell me who'd be my customers

Can't sell to Indian public and military procurement's too unreliable here; 192 countries remaining. Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia!? 189 remaining. Iran, North Korea, Russia...I mean if you're ready to face sanctions then why not, otherwise 186. Lol China! 185. European Union? Lmao. They take IP very seriously, SIG Sauer lawyers will rip you apart. 158. Will the countries like Burkina Faso and Burundi and Malawi be able to even dream of buying it? 100. Ah ha, the US of A. SIG Sauer is an American company, what do you think would happen to you there? 99. Just remembered the gun laws in Japan and South Korea. 97. By the way USA = Canada so...96. Are you sure our firearm industry would be strong enough to compete with Israel? 95.

We had started with almost 195 countries and now 100 are gone, I hope you get my point

But in case I had put some efforts, done some R&D in making something new then just the civilian firearms market of USA and European Union would have made me a millionaire.

He's just comparing fit and finish of two rifles. He's easily impressed by lightning cuts; the Barrett looks comparatively basic to him. He'll learn one day.

Your point is valid if we indeed need to sell abroad. But I am hopeful atleast CAPF and MHA, police would provide a market and eventually IA.
(Like how ASMI and JVPC got a foothold)
