Japanese Economy

Sounds like a good opportunity for Tata or Mahindra to do an homegrown aviation company in joint partnership with a Japanese company.

An idea was recently brought in Japan to create a dedicated freight corridor to simplify logistics, requesting people well versed in economy and infrastructure to put forth their comments and analysis on that @haldilal

Japan plans to replace 25,000 trucks with a 500 kilometre autonomous trucking line.

The country of the rising sun has come up with a way to get rid of drivers and harmful emissions by automating freight transport, this also means the elimination of the need to import inmigrant drivers. For this purpose, they want to connect cities with multi-kilometre "conveyors" that will move cargo. The corresponding project has been discussed by the expert group of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan since February.

Now the volume of online shopping in Japan is growing, and the number of drivers in the trucking industry is decreasing. As a result, it is predicted that by 2030, approximately 30 per cent of goods will simply have no one to transport them. This is the problem that the logistics line they want to extend between Tokyo and Osaka is designed to solve. The Western model solution, of course, would be to import these drivers.

⚙️ There are several options for this project, including a 500km long conveyor belt or tunnels that would be travelled by unmanned carts.

💵 Such a line would be able to move as much small cargo as 25,000 lorries. At the same time, the project will cost $23 billion without taking into account conveyor belts or carts with autopilot, and this money must be found by 2034.
