I think what many of us are disappointed and perhaps angry is not because CDS chose to confirm our jets were downed (though tbf he said A jet was down, which means singular and bloomberg intentionally ran with unspecified numbers), he chose to give the info to foreign anti India rags instead of our own. The result - all the operational successes which have collaborated satelite imageries go for a toss and they are running with confirmation of downed Indian jets and showing that specific part of the clip.

If he did choose to do it in front of foreign media then he chose to give a straightforward answer and discussed about tactical mistakes, the exact kind of statements they were looking for. Are our military officers that naive? Couldn't he stuck to the official line of few weeks ago that we will release the details at the right time? Reuters and bloomberg were running articles and new stories how PAF downed 5 of our jets, couldn't he counter questioned them about on what evidence they were running those propaganda pieces? He had a good chance to expose them instead he was letting them know about the events which even our media have not been made privy to.


Also what's up with these praising Pak military as some rational and professional force? Have you ever heard a single military general or top ranking officer of theirs mention anything remotely good about ours? We never ever learn. Remember Kargil, when their subhuman army refused to take back the dead bodies of their men and instead we were recommending gallantry awards for their men. IIRC in all the wars with us they have never acknowledged or recommended any of our soldiers for their bravery while we might have done multiple times. Once I had a discussion with a Paki who was trumpeting this fact saying their soldier"s bravery is even acknowledged by the enemy and letting me know the reason Pak military have never done the same to us is because they couldn't find a single instance of bravery from our side. That's the mindset they have, from their top generals all the way down to their poorest.
We need more of our military leaders to have mentality of someone like General GD Bakshi. His analysis of Paki army has always been spot on.
