Rare attack on tourists in Kashmir reveals Pakistan's desperation

Tuesday's attack on tourists by terrorists in Kashmir's Pahalgam is rare, considering the targets and the scale. Twenty-six people are feared dead. This could be a desperate bid by Pakistan, given the phase of peace and prosperity that Jammu and Kashmir has been witness to.

The law and order is in LG hands.. police/ troops are under LG/ Home minister yet you blame elections. The real failure here is Amit shah and ninda turtle and intelligence IB. Shah kept drubbing Kashmir tourism this Kashmir tourism that booming in every appearance of media without having sny security apparatus for tourists. The IAF chief is a notable absentee in this meeting

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure we've lost more aircrafts in peacetime due to poor maintenance than we've lost than in any war. With the number of squadrons dwindling as Mig-21s get phased out and the delay of replacement with Tejas, IAF's reputation has taken a hit even among many defence circles. The IAF although ahead of PAF but not decisively. It is effectively a peer air force with advantages being traded on both sides. Any skirmish in the air will be risky.

The ideal course of action would be to have the army start shelling again and the navy parking it's ships right off of Pakistan's territorial waters and start some sort of a blockade. With these many distractions, SFs can be sent in to raid Paki terrorist/military outposts with the aim to liquidate those involved in the horrific massacre. The IAF should be put on alert in a defensive role should the Pakistanis decide to retaliate by their only credible branch, the PAF.
