Indian Economy (19 Viewers)

Just doing the basics of building wide footpaths along the highways, maintaining some greenery in our cities so they dont look like concrete jungles and improving the roads would go a long way to improving our cities.

the place i live right now, the things you mentioned have already been developed by municipal corporation i.e supply came before demand. now to buy a new house here costs 3.5 cr to 10 cr. :cry2:

They have done it in my area as well but right outside my locality if you go to a main road all shit is chaos again

This rarely happens in old part of cities. And even when happens in newly developed area, be assured that majority plots and villas are already bought by politician cronies with insider info.

True. There is very little accountability. India’s municipal system really needs a structural reform. One of the biggest issues is how little connection there is between local governments and the people they serve. Apart from election season, there’s hardly any real communication. Most people feel like they have no say in how their neighbourhood is managed, and municipalities often seem slow or indifferent to everyday issues. Meanwhile, countries like Japan show us a different way. There, communities regularly take part in keeping their surroundings clean, managing waste, or even helping plan local improvements. And importantly, their efforts are appreciated. Local governments acknowledge and support these contributions, which builds a sense of pride and shared ownership. While it is true that Indian municipality has very little financial capabilities, they still have enough to build such relationships. But they simply don't have that intent.

In India, that kind of cooperation is still rare. It’s not because people don’t care, but because they often don’t feel seen or supported. When citizens do try to step up, they’re usually left to do it alone. If we want to build better cities, we need both stronger local bodies and a mindset that encourages teamwork between people and municipalities. Local governments should not just function better, they should feel closer, more open, and more human. But, what we have are some human shaped vote taking machine who shows up on election season.
In India there is a tendency to blame everything on the govt, there are always a few things you can do despite municipal level/PWD corruption & incompetence.

They have some sports league too. However our IPL is way too big for them. IPL revenues are in top 15. I think thats because of weak INR. But if we adjust for PPP. IPL surely will be in top 5. So, IPL ecosystem is very well polished in India. I do not watch ISL or HIL(Hockey League). But I do watch Pro Kabaddai League with my Nanaji. In it I am noticing signs and patterns of a maturing ecosystem. Pro Kabaddi League has come very far from its humble beginnings. Its viewership is increasing with each year. It surpassed 200M viewer threshold. I think, It is just waiting for a breakout. I am sure in next decade it will surely reach in top 20 sports leagues by revenue. IPL in nominal terms will break out in top 8. These sports will inject too much money in our sports ecosystem. They will lay foundation for a strong sports related job market. Players, coaches, scouts, dieticians, sports biology specialists, match analysts, and so on. Soo, I suspect India too will diversify. Other leagues will also gain more market share. We will actually have better sports ecosystem than Chinese in 2036. After US-CA, and Europe. It will be India who will have a robust sports ecosystem.

India at 5T economy: Mammoth IPL + upstart PKL, ISL, HIL
India at 12T economy: Mammoth IPL + PKL + upstart leagues in other sports.
I am pretty sure some CCP official is sitting in their sports leagues making a lot of money.

They are doing in multiple ways. Not allowing skill transfer, eg. Foxconn engineer recall, exide battery plant engineer recall. Along with raw material bans.

Salty mofos.
so why are we dependent on them for all these skills? We still suffer from the inability to come and work in India as we do not have good quality global cities to live and work in yet.
Look at Karnataka where the government could not acquire additional land for aerospace park in Bengaluru due to farmer protests. That kind of government failures is why people simply won’t invest without fear. And the prospects of building world class cities where professionals live, work and make money is still a dream too far. The political climate has to change for us to be able to grow fast. Look at Vietnam’s big cities and ours.

volume or value? Volumes do not mean anything.

By value, I read the article just now.

I get my BP high when i think we missed the whole decade plus where we could have grown our manufacturing just because of these Raghuram Rajan esque "opinions" and assumptions.

In that time the global climate was good, it was much easier to get investments, Choina was not as aggressive.

Chorgress just sat on it

Today in this drought of a global climate we now have to do mujra to get manufacturing investments when there are over 9 other competitor countries

A rajasthan that does well economically will not only benefit it's residents but a state with amazing history, culture and hospitality balanced with a good industrialization level will do amazing work for our PR aswell.
Not only Rajasthan we should develop all big population states...so their population dont migrate to other places. that migration (in big number) result in clash between local nd other state people. state people only visit other state for tourism, business, education etc purpose. these temporary migration isnt problematic to anyone.

Interesting. The conventional solar panels are made of Silicon and they top out at 20% efficiency which drops gradually over a period of time. The perovskite solar panels are still in research phase. They do deliver higher efficiencies compared to silicon, but they degrade faster than silicon. Here in this case they are using both. Top layer is perovskite and the layer underneath is silicon. If they can somehow prevent the degradation of perovskite layer then they have a goldmine in their hands.

To put things in perspective, let me elaborate on this. There are 2 types of Solar panels widely in use.

1) One is Monocrystalline and the other Polycrystalline. It is easy to spot which type of solar panel by a naked eye. If you see a black solar panel then it is monocrystalline. This is made from single silicon crystal which allows easy movement of electrons inside the cell resulting in high efficiency. They generate decent amount of electricity even during cloudy days. Ofcourse, monocrystalline panels are expensive.

2) Second one is Polycrystalline. This one is blue in color. This is made from multiple silicon crystals allowing for lesser mobility of electrons resulting in less efficiency. These panels are cheaper.

In India it takes 25 square km of land for installation of 1 GW of Solar. Most of them use Polycrystalline panels for cost reasons. Some use a mix of both. For 1,000 sq.kms we can have 40 GW solar installation. If we can commercialize the solar panel with 29% efficiency, then we would need 20 sq.km of land which would make a big difference when we scale. In the same 1,000 sq.kms land area we can now have 50 GW solar installation. That makes a huge difference.

As of now, are there any Indian companies manufacturing polycrystalline or monocrystalline cells. It is known that India certainly imports the majority of solar cells.
