We had ordered over a 1000 L70 guns in 1960 . Whoever decided to upgrade those with electronics and radars that can detect small radar siganture deserves credit . It was really a cheaper option . The US in recent times lost F-35 on a flimsy crashes, why do you think they will ask for de escalation for an Cold war era F-16 downing. Understand the big picture, Pakistan is an B**ch for US before China, They want to maintain the status quo where Pakistan will be there for US in future as an Rogue country who will threaten us with terrorism on religious basis.

Same thing is happening in Bangladesh where Yunus is trying to give an US Base. Already news came with potential visit from certain sections of US Officials.

Both US and China want us to be keep in check by Pakistan/Bangladesh, so they can avoid potential future problems with us. At the same time, USA want us to be Attack dog for China.
