Honestly, I am disappointed in many forum members. They have more interest in debating if to blame Modi for their angst or not. There should be seperate outrage threads honestly, for every incident in the future. Our air defences would have been woefully inadequate for a ground invasion into Pakistan, we would have won, but not nearly as easily as a few drone and missile exchanges and a half hearted air campaign had made us believe. Indian politicians have deep distrust for the military and rely heavily on the bureaucrats to do their dirty works (babus are aggreable, military officers not so much).

Just look at the number of ex-bureaucrats holding positions in the central cabinet. Modi even granted ticket to a freshly retired ex-ambassador to contest election from Punjab in 2024. Modi is known for relying heavily on the babus since his days as Gujarat's CM.

In all the key meetings, it was Modi, Defence Minister, CDS, three service chiefs, NSA. All service chiefs and CDS had direct ears of Narendra Modi. They were not reporting to some bureaucrat. Rather, they were part of the highest decisions.

How come you start blaming bureaucrats here. Bureaucracy had no role to play here. If you talk about Foreign Secretary, do you think he had more influence than Foreign Minister in the decisions?
