It didn't went as expected.

The more the time passes, the more we realize that how important was 2014.

There's a rift forming between converted and those who still practice and preserve indigenous culture.

In our Indian subcontinent culture/way of life is inseparably linked with the forms of gods we worship.

In christianity the converted shed their indigenous culture over generations and eventually look down upon pagans/non believers as that's the nature of abrahamic ideologies, of course exceptions apply to individuals but this conversion spree won't last long as it will eventually the change the relations both within and between the tribes of our eastern states.

The only state that won't be getting a rail connection in the near future is Meghalaya. Every other state capital is going to get connected in the next 2-3 years. Despite some new anti-railway murmurs in Nagaland and Mizoram, the rail projects there are in too advanced a stage to stop now. Locals in Shillong have been gaslighted against railways for a long time since it used to be the capital of Assam. It's such a stupid line of argument as well. "Railway will bring droves of migrants", when it barely takes 2.5 hours to get to Shillong from Guwahati by road anyway nowadays. Even in Meghalaya it wouldn't have come to this if a line was built early enough.

A lot of NE's alienation, including its rapid Christianization, are a direct result of the Nehru-Gandhi family led Congress' policies (but that's a conversation for another day and thread). Remember, much of the population in the hills used to be practicing Hindus even after independence. The situation isn't entirely unsalvageable even today. As others have pointed out, these guys are salvageable. Sustained socio economic integration into Indian mainstream will cancel out tribalistic tendencies and the nascent signs are there already. Insurgency has declined rapidly, the rest can be taken care of by the state and RSS like orgs. Heck, increased securitization of the Indo-Myanmar border will solve half the problem.

Islamists , otoh, are a total lost cause and require thorough software upgrades.

How will you integrate them further when what they want is to be able to take part in rest of India freely but restrict access to their areas? The problem isn't economic integration. Those are freeloader states with no taxes for Christians.

The hard/soft infra building spree is a very very recent development. A major reason why the border and the LAC are not as secure as we want them to be.

Ditto for the investment bit. Assam's investment boom is, again, a very recent development.

For the reconversion bit - the quoted xitter handle has a long summary of the activities of the sangh backed orgs in NE. The erstwhile INC gormints tried their level best to stop them for reasons known to us all. Arunachal/Meghalaya/Assam being up in arms against missionary activities is no coincidence.

That's essentially what happened much of the time since independence. Didn't work very well. The fruits of investing in the region, even in its nascent stage, is clear. Take the example of Independence and Republic day celebrations now vs earlier in the region. For decades, region wide bandhs and violence used to be a given on those days. That's a distant memory today.

Hate to say this but no. Rss is doing a good job in NE no dout but they are silent or ignoring conversion in south Gujarat. Bjp is also silent on this issue. I have personally raised the issue of conversion with bjp and rss members but have got no reply from them. Rss is virtually non exist In tapi and adjoining district.

I posted this about in DFI. Divyabhaskar Gujarat did a very a thorough article on conversion. They wrote about how many villages and people were converted recently and the numbers are scary. Demography is quickly changing here and in coming year it will be a headache for the government.

Chongress is fully supporting these conversion. They are also supporting secessionist adivasi movements. Every type of new infrastructure here Is being protested and the state gov is being blackmailed to pay more than the required amount for the land, increasing costs.

Recently government has built a brand new 100 + bed hospital here but they are not able to open the hospital because of regular protest by adivasis. Mind you this hospital will save critical patients who earlier had to travel 60km to Surat. Buildings is ready, equipment is ready but adivasis are not budging from their demand. State government has promised them to accept the demand but this niggas just want to defeat bjp.

Their is much more to write about this. All i can say is bjp should really focus on whole south Gujarat.

These phoren (read CIA) backed missionary groups are insanely violent and tribalistic, man. Some other user has mentioned Rijoy Singh - that dude (an RSS man) was documenting the native faiths of Meghalaya and made deep inroads into the Khasi belt all the way back into the '90s when sangh had very little manpower/institutional support in Meghalaya.

His campaigns were so successful that the church got jittery, hired a bunch of gunmen and killed Rijoy and many of his his org members one after another.

There has been no investigation into those killings because even the gormints fear those US backed churches. These pastors were running parallel governments in pockets, quite literally and the Union government turned a blind eye to it - even facilitating them at times through dubious phoren backed NGOs.

Only now, some of these guys have started fighting back because sangh backed orgs have managed to tap into the required mass support and FCRA is in effect.
