Indo US Relations

Betrayal

Modi’s experience with Trump mirrors Nehru’s betrayal by Mao in the late 1950s. With Mao, the reasons—particularly the Dalai Lama’s asylum in India—soon became clear. In Trump’s case, the motives remain uncertain. Any attempt to explain them now would be speculative; the truth will likely emerge in a few years.

Trump has no love for Pakistan’s jihadists, military, or civilian leadership. His intervention in early May was not about loyalty to Pakistan, but about preventing its military collapse. On May 9–10, India targeted key Pakistani sites—Nur Khan airbase and the Sargodha nuclear facility—demonstrating that Pakistan’s nuclear command and delivery systems were within India’s reach.

In response, Pakistan’s Army Chief woke the Prime Minister at 2:30 AM, and a ceasefire was quickly offered. India, having made its point, paused its strikes.

Trump took credit for the ceasefire, but this is misleading. Pakistan had no choice—it was cornered. While Trump may have helped open a diplomatic channel, it was India’s military precision that forced de-escalation.

What raised eyebrows was Trump’s conduct. At the peak of the crisis, he linked Modi a trade deal with ceasefire—suggesting a transactional approach to a grave security matter. Instead of holding the provocateurs accountable, he prioritized optics. In doing so, he mishandled a moment of high stakes and deep consequences. It is nothing else but betrayal.

Its a well thought out strategy from US Deep state accordingly Trump is blabbering in public.

US deep state always wants to hyphenate India with pakistan(the idea behind is create more and more leverage on Indian political set up), but ground realities has long been changed, India under BJP govt will keep a distance with porks and punish severely in case used its terrorism card.

Trump was never against US deep state he was always against the ppl who were against him in deep state.

What will be in future :

India will completely ignore any Trump admin tactics of hyphenate Indo porks, while maintaining very hard stance(could see hard military actions also leave alone any political meets)

We will see hardening stance on any trade and military deal with USA going forward.

QUAD will go in cold storage with little interest shown, India will welcome QUAD leaders in case Trump tries to put any condition on leaders meet, will likely see token summit.

It's funny seeing Putin nutting directly into Trump's mouth.

But why 2lund is being so submissive when it comes to putin

dolund is playing same game with Putin as he just played with India.

Ukraine keep on sending drones inside russia to kill top russian officials including Putin and then Putin sent Iskandars to fck up drone manufacturing complex in Ukraine and then Dolund said to media Putin gone mad.

Dolund is basically in same situation as were other POTUS a deep state puppet. Thats why we see more collaboration with pakis and BDs and softing down to chinese.

Seems like Arabs poured billions on behalf of deep state to Trump

Trump and India- Friendship in distress
Trump has strained U.S.-India relations through three bombshells he has dropped:

1. He pressured India into a rushed, low-tariff trade deal under threat of sanctions/tariffs.

2. He forced India to back down during Operation Sindoor by leveraging trade and tariff threats.

3. He proposed a 5% remittance tax targeting Indian workers and residents sending money home.

Modi’s government had no effective response. Unlike China, which held leverage through its control over rare earths and critical minerals like lithium and germanium, India lacks comparable strategic assets. China used its advantage to force Trump to back down. India, by contrast, was compelled to comply.

India’s only real strength is its vast consumer market, including a 300-million-strong middle class. However, this isn’t Trump’s immediate priority. His current focus is on reshoring manufacturing and narrowing trade deficits. Even partial progress will be touted as a win.

Unless Trump fails in Ukraine or his soft approach to China produces no results, India is unlikely to become a serious focus of U.S. policy under his watch. For now, U.S.-India relations are likely to remain stagnant.

Trust the babus on this! They will drag the trade negotiations for another 4 years until the next administrations comes into the WH!!

seema sirohi : India and the US held a comprehensive, two-day dialogue covering all major aspects of bilateral relations at the White House as if the main occupant had left town. Goals and deadlines were set, aims and ambitions recounted, and the word 'strategic' that precedes 'partnership' came out in bold.

Foreign secretary Vikram Misri and deputy NSA Pavan Kapoor discussed everything….. mapped out deliverables for the rest of the year and ahead - smart strategy to showcase the breadth and depth of the relationship.

Nothing of this nature - a concentrated and condensed dialogue - has been convened before where so many US officials gather at the White House for 'India Day', as it were.

Incidentally, Indian officials had kept top US officials well-informed about the ground situation from May 6 to 10 - the before, during and after - as missiles flew and drones swarmed. It was an important gesture, and the US side understood.

'Stealth diplomacy' in Trump 1.0 is functional again, and officials on both sides are doing what they must to keep the relationship moving.

Hope we dont give away too much while basking in fake adulations and personal incentives during negotiations. This is one thing lingers on in mind as our track record in getting good FTA negotiated is poor.

"It was an important gesture & the US understood". - Yep

*If * True, why are we being so naive? What good has this "understanding" done for us? They intervened on behalf of Pakistan & MAGA-Ape took credit for "ceasefire" repeatedly.

I mean, it is one thing to have contacts when situation is hot but this "before...during....after & as as when missiles flew...." is so strange.

this was not a surprise for me, i sort of expected it. i have written on this in 2019 post balakot strikes. GoI is in the boys club, but not at the table. GoI will do what is expected of as per norms of big boys club, i.e be transparent with each other. Big boys do not like surprises, which is why GoI reacted the way it did on orange man's post.

similarly service chiefs would have already called their counter parts in the neighbourhood or will call them in near future, to update them on the status.

these are things responsible nations do with friendly countries. it's better not to confuse day to day transactional affairs between states with larger game at play.

What Did Pakistan Promise the U.S. to Get Positive Coverage During the War?

The recent Indo-Pak war revealed a harsh truth: the United States is a fair-weather friend—if a friend at all. India, despite extending consistent diplomatic and trade goodwill to Washington, continues to receive unfair treatment in return. The U.S. response to the brutal killing of 26 Hindu tourists in Kashmir—clear evidence of targeted terrorism—was nothing short of disappointing. Instead of unequivocally condemning the attack and supporting India’s justified retaliation, the U.S. offered a tepid statement, lacking both force and sincerity.

Worse still, as India struck back, American media swiftly began amplifying Pakistan’s narrative, casting doubt on India’s actions rather than standing by a democratic ally. One cannot help but ask: Whose side is the U.S. truly on? If their strategic interests dictate siding with Pakistan, so be it—India cannot and will not beg for support. The U.S. was closely aligned with Pakistan for over six decades until 2015. If Washington now wishes to befriend India, that relationship must be built on mutual respect—not double standards.

President Trump’s own dealings with China further highlight this pattern. After aggressively imposing 145–245% tariffs, he eventually scaled them back to 30%, a quiet admission of policy failure. In the end, China walked away with a diplomatic win, while America’s tough talk dissolved into concessions.

India must learn from these repeated betrayals. The U.S.—regardless of who occupies the White House—often presents a friendly face, while acting otherwise behind closed doors. It is high time India approached this relationship with eyes wide open and an arm’s-length stance.
Agree with your views ! But you can not change this. US/EU always play with their interest. China was allowed to be developed and they extracted good benefits from China. But for India , they do not want at all. The technological edge we have shown recently now will further make them hate India. If you see from 2014 , since we have changed approach in making military equipment's with Pvt sector , it has changed speed of development and manufacturing in India. Let any body say anything , without moving single Jawan , we have been able to checkmate pak . At least people like us should believe in this fact that PAK army had raised white flag before we actually stopped. In my view this is decisive victory even though if short lived , this has rattled so called big powers. In recent time wars , it was strategic win calibrated with precision strike resulted in collapse of enemy which neither China, Russia or even USA could achieve that too against nuclear armed country with heavy support from both super powers.
India needs to pay for this and it will call for undeclared sanctions against India . So the path ahead is tricky , the trade will be used as weapon and do not expect any military tech or equipment being offered by anybody to India. People are talking for 5th gen Fighter Plane , now we have develop it with our own technology and effort must be made to strengthen our AD to handle 5th gen planes. In my view , this war has shown us that we can defend ourselves with our own made systems rather than purchasing this from outside.GOV is on right path by outsourcing the 5th gen to PVT matket players , this should have been done long back. I have very much dough that this programmer was sabotaged by outsiders earlier.
I won't be surprised if in next 5to 10 years we emerge as major player in Missiles and AD systems in world.
