This was something I always wondered why Modi didn't handle differently???
Historically leaders make this their first priority.

BJP is scared party, I'd even say cowardly at times, kowtowing to everyone. Priest king is also too obsessed with keeping up his imaginary Vishwaguru image and upholding "democracie, equailty and fraternitiè". Perhaps the priest king isn't aware that he is already a fascist in the eyes of global media. Might as well behave like one.

Could've easily got RG/Vadra entangled in some ED case like Kejruddin but it didn't happen. Post 2019 they had lot of chances but they blew it.
