On July 2nd, a colossal machine embodying the pinnacle of Chinese hydropower equipment technology set off from Harbin Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Harbin Electric Machinery) of Harbin Electric Group Corporation. The core component of the world's first single-unit capacity of 500 megawatts and the largest runner diameter of 6.23 meters for an impulse turbine - the runner - was independently developed and delivered by Harbin Electric Machinery, marking a historic breakthrough in China's core equipment field for high-head, large-capacity impulse turbine units.

This turbine will be applied to the Zala Hydropower Station in Tibet. The Zala Hydropower Station was constructed by Datang Tibet Energy Development Co., Ltd. It is a key project of the "Electricity Transmission to the Outside of Tibet" of the country and the world's most challenging impulsive hydropower project under construction. The power station has two 500-megawatt impulsive generators with the largest single-unit capacity and the highest technical difficulty in the world. As the first (and only) major technological equipment project in the energy field of the National Energy Administration, this unit has technical features such as high altitude, high water head, and large capacity. It is the main model to serve the national strategy of "accelerating the construction of the hydropower base in the southwest".

The water chamber-type runner of the impulse turbine, as the core component of the unit, plays a crucial role in converting the kinetic energy of water flow into mechanical energy, and can be regarded as the "heart" of the hydroelectric generator set.
The Zara runner wheel has extremely high requirements for structural parameters, hydraulic performance and manufacturing techniques, representing the cutting-edge technological level of current impact-type hydroelectric generators. Harbin Electric Machinery has specially designed a high-performance water bucket-type runner for the Zara impact-type unit. This runner is composed of 21 precise water buckets, with an outer diameter of 6.23 meters, a total wheel height of 1.34 meters and a weight of approximately 80 tons. Its core component - the hub forging - is the largest martensitic stainless steel forging in the world. These breakthrough parameters indicate that this runner has achieved disruptive improvements in hydraulic performance, efficient operating range and pressure-bearing capacity in the industry.

As the pinnacle of world hydropower technology, the development process of this runner can be regarded as a model of systematic engineering innovation. The research team of Harbin Electric Motor has started from aspects such as the safety and performance of the unit, comprehensively considering the precise matching of the water bucket and the nozzle, the consistency of the jet diameter and efficiency, the interaction between the jet and the water bucket, the interference effect of adjacent jets of multiple nozzles, and the rigidity and strength indicators of the water bucket. Relying on the impact-type hydropower test bench of the National Key Laboratory of Hydropower Equipment, they innovatively integrated computational fluid dynamics flow analysis, high-speed photography and flow state observation techniques. Through continuous optimization, they ultimately achieved the ultimate design of the flow parameters.

It is known that the entire research and development process lasted for four years and went through five reviews. The research team systematically evaluated over a hundred schemes and manufactured six observation rotors with different design directions and six performance test model rotors. These were verified by a high-precision impact test bench. Their optimal efficiency and weighted average efficiency both set new world records, providing a solid guarantee for the safe, efficient and stable operation of the unit.

Once upon a time, “Long Live China-Pakistan Friendship” was a diplomatic slogan used by Chinese state media to spread across the globe. From helping build dams and high-speed rail projects to jointly developing fighter jets, Pakistan has long been China’s most trusted “iron brother” and a core customer for military exports. But this time, Pakistan has not chosen China. On May 29, Pakistan’s second “Babur-class” corvette, PNS Khaibar, ordered from Turkey, completed port testing and left Istanbul, officially starting sea trials. This was not an ordinary ship trial; it represented a $1.5 billion strategic shift: four corvettes were all ordered from Turkey, leaving Beijing with nothing. What’s even more ironic is that Pakistan has indeed used Chinese ships in the past. Back in 2017, they introduced four 054A/P class frigates from China—larger, more powerful, and delivered more quickly, at a cheaper price. But this time, they chose the inferior, assembled “Babur-class”. So, the question arises: why did China lose to an “assembled product” when their ships had better performance, lower prices, and quicker delivery?

On May 10, 2025, a freight train carrying electronics, mechanical parts, and food left Xi'an, China. It crossed 5,500 kilometers of desert and highlands, arriving in Tehran, Iran, on May 24. This marked the official operation of the first train on the China-Iran railway.Chinese state media celebrated the event, calling it a "lifeline" for oil between China and Iran, challenging the traditional power dynamics dominated by the U.S. Navy. On social media platforms like Douyin, influencers were excited, especially after June 19, with many videos s

So what you're saying is for the Han , renminbis are important , no matter how they come , where do they come from etc ? Thanks for the confirmation.

We've a phrase here derived from Sanskrit - Yatho Raja Tatho Praja which means - As the king , so are the people .

Sums up why both the Han & the CCP deserve each other.

Yes. The Han were also making money helping the British traffic opium in Zhongguo. Now they call it a century of humiliation.

Wu Bingjian & his Canton Cohong would be very proud of their fellow Han. Who's Wu Bingjian? Once upon a time he was the richest man in the world who also made a fortune in a side business with the British trafficking opium to his fellow Han along with the Canton Cohong .

You must be very proud of Wu Bingjian & the Canton Cohong. After all you're following in the same footsteps. Renminbis are important, no matter where it comes from & how it's earned.

China’s threats against Taiwan get a lot of attention. But a far more audacious plan is unfolding in Beijing. Emerging evidence — drawn from internal Chinese deliberations and a leaked Russian intelligence document — suggests that China’s ambitions are pivoting north, to Siberia.

This shift — driven by Chinese resource hunger, geopolitical opportunism and Russia’s weakening grip — could reshape the global order in ways the West has yet to fully grasp. Moreover, the staggering costs of invading Taiwan, and Siberia’s role in fueling China’s economic growth, make the northern pivot increasingly likely by 2027.

China’s fixation on Taiwan, fueled by national pride and Xi Jinping’s vision, remains a rhetorical cornerstone. However, a full-scale amphibious invasion would be a logistical and economic nightmare.

Hitler was stopped by the 22-mile gap ocean between France and the U.K. The Taiwan Strait is five-times wider, and the 100-mile-wide chokepoint is heavily defended by Taiwan’s modernized military and backed by explicit and implicit U.S. and allied support.

EXCLUSIVE: The BYD Bombshell — Hidden Losses, Fake Profits and a Shaky Empire

View: https://x.com/muskonomy/status/1939558840690962926/analytics

For years, BYD has been framed as China’s EV crown jewel, a symbol of state-backed industrial power. But dig into the numbers, and a disturbing picture emerges: a company selling cars at a loss, faking profitability, hiding costs, and dragging its suppliers toward collapse. This isn’t just an accounting trick, it’s a risk to China’s entire EV story.

The Taliban Gave China a Resounding Slap, Ending a 25-Year Oil Contract With Chinese Companies

In a sudden turn of events, Afghanistan announced the termination of a 25-year oil extraction contract with Xinjiang Central Asia Petroleum and Gas Co., citing repeated violations of contract terms by the company. This decision was made following an official investigation by a joint committee, which found that the company had failed to comply with key contractual obligations. The company has yet to respond officially to these claims.
