The major reason for our cuckery with bangladesh is that we never planned a force structure that can deal with this additional heachade. Our entire concentration was on the western and Northern borders. We don't have lakhs of spare troops for other uses. Now GOI finds itself in a situation where it suddenly realizes it needs an extra 200-300k troops (minimum) to truly seal the bangladesh border along with 10-15 billion dollars of infrastructure, fencing and monitoring equipment.
The deeper point is that this is what happens when you don't learn the lessons of history. The biggest lesson about muslims is that they can turn in an instant. It doesn't matter how many decades of "peace" you have with them.
