There is an urgent need for attack nuclear submarines. These are a bit different from Arihant class nuclear submarine with 90 mw nuclear reactor. The attack submarine requires a 190 mw reactor. Last I heard that BARC has completed its developments and the Indian design attack submarine has been under construction.

6-7 years ago. Once all protocols and test parameters are solidified, upcoming submarines can be inducted in shorter span. Next SSBN Aridaman is said to be comissioned by the end of this year or 2025.

This commissioning is just for show like in case of ins arihant
Similarly u will see about S4 and S4* subs too
Infact S4 status is also under reported
