Arihant Class Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarines

SFC-Indian navy

6 -> S5 class SSBN

Each S5 class SSBN 14-16 SLBM's

So 84-96 (K5/K6) SLBM's

let's say each (K5/K6) Has 4-6 MIRV's

So 84×(4-6) OR 96x(4-6) MIRV's

336-504 OR 384-576 MIRV's only for sea based SFC

expect similar numbers for land based (Road/Rail) SFC

🇮🇳 🕉 MIRV's specifications mostly:

Type 1
Weight ~300 KG
Yield ~250 KT

Type 2
Weight ~500 KG
Yield ~450 KT

Generally, the top tier missile testing by DRDO is very much shrouded in secrecy for long time. I had an conversation with an NAL scientist known through our relative during 2018 after the first SFDR launch. While the official media news is the Missile failed but he simply told the test was indeed successful and DRDO simply withhold the information.

Also, we came across dozens of Prithvi missile testing for decades now. Prithvi is such an old missile and it is pretty much we can speculate that DRDO is testing some new missiles but just simply not providing any tidbits to common people.

Same situation is going with SSBN and SSN a lot of manufacturing infra is upgraded in HSL but we rarely heard about them compared to MSL, GRSE, CSL ship building capabilities. The subs activity also very much in secrecy and we are getting tidbits in a very delayed fashion.
Yah, there was such uncertainty after DRDO's first test of the HSTDV in June/ 2019 . There were reports that the test failed, but later there were indications that it was a success. To this day, it is foggy.

we r planning to hv 4 arihant class SSBN (with 6000-7000 ton displacement), after that 3 S5 class SSBN (with 13000 ton displacement)....i think after that qe should build another 3 SSBN (with 15000 ton displacement) nd use older 4 arihant class SSBN as guided missile nuclear submarine (SSGN). they can hold 12/24 brahmos or ITCM subsonic cruise missiles. so we can use them in conventional war also. six SSBN is good enough for us untill 2050.

There is an urgent need for attack nuclear submarines. These are a bit different from Arihant class nuclear submarine with 90 mw nuclear reactor. The attack submarine requires a 190 mw reactor. Last I heard that BARC has completed its developments and the Indian design attack submarine has been under construction.

Please, educate the readers of this forum with better knowledge.
What about a smaller SSN than intended, with the 90MW reactor?
A SSN used mainly a speed between few knots and 15 or maybe 20 kt max. The higher is the speed the less noise stealth it is, and the more blind it is. So...

Did you mean SSBN ?
Cause most SSNs world wide are used to keep up with or even outrun surface ships.

What is the max speed of Rubis and Suffren? I heard they have a low MWe Electric Motor that doesn't enable fast speeds like 30-Knots and 35-Knots. Also most importantly, its about diameter and size of reactor that restricts the size of submarine. The reactor still hasn't reached sufficient level of miniaturization to install in a smaller size SSN like Rubis or Suffren.

Why again 3 S5 Class? Isn't the rule is 4? Vanguard Class, Le Triomphant Class all follow rule of 4.

why we hv to follow others? we hv to spend for 6 SSN (although government give nod for only two SSN right now) also. thats why we hv right now three 13000 ton displacement S5 SSBN on plan.
