China military and weapon development

F-35 has intake S ducts like LCA or Mirage III or F-104 are single engine, twin engine fighters like F-22 can use S ducts but L-1011 was an airliner nothing to do with stealth, so relax each designer consider pros and cons, F-117, F/A-18E, X-32, RQ-170 or Su-57 have other solutions and engineering is not dogmatic there are several solution to same problems
But except russin engineers all the other engineers of all the other countries are choosing s ducts over radar blockers on straight ducts.

Interesting the love Chinese have for the Indian and Russian camarades, it is obvious the Chinese will betray India and Russia.

In order for the Chinese to "betray" India, India has to consider China a friend.
China is considered as a snake after being bitten many times.

God emporer do Lund trump, please lend us 1 Chapter of emporers angles, preferably Ultramarines to kick these chinks out of himalayas.

F 117 did have them , but as I said before Americans moved on from the radar blockers to s ducts in their newer stealth jets( f22, f35)

aircraft design is based upon solutions not dogmas, S ducts do work but so are radar blockers or intake grilles.

There are pros and cons for both system, which one you will use depends in in what conditions each system is better depending in the different solutions used.

For that boing duck, it was rejected,f35 which had an s duct won.

Super hornet, is based on f18 hornet an older design, they didn't want to change too much and given it's a 4.5 gen airframe, they didn't bother to change the core design, but if they were developing a new 4/4.5 gen jet based on a new design, I can 100% guarantee you they would have chosen s duct.

Again f117 is an old design newer stealth jets (f22, f35) chose s duct over the radar blockers.

The conditions of modern warfare dictates that s duct is superior.

we do not to argue at nauseum, so i will tell you my opinion for the last time unless we find a document based upon science not opinions.

The decision of what system should be used depends in the imagination and ingenuity of the designer.

Su-47 has S ducts and ventral weapons bay but it does not mean Russian engineers specially sukhoi did not know to use those solutions.

Russia bashing is in reality stupid since Sukhoi has achieved a very advanced design on Su-75 they opted for a U shaped intake, it is U shaped for 2 reasons, first its bump is lower, so it generates less drag, and it is ventral as well a side intake, being side intake means it has both the advantages of ventral intakes and side intakes and hides well the engine face, this means less distortion on the intake duct, it basically is a single engined Su-57

1731570248688.png

it is truly an original design not like copies China makes
1731570648620.png-

Even MiG-15 hid the engine fan blades well but not for stealth reason but the cockpit placement, so stop dreaming only one solution should be taken

I never bashed russia though, I bashed su 57, and the choice of their engineer at that time who thought that radar blockers were enough, they are better than straight ducts without any blockers but again I'm highly skeptical they can be even 50% as effective as am s duct, not to mention s duct also helps to hide the heat signature of the engines from front.
I'm fully aware that russia can design a better jet, su 75 is an example and I can guarantee you if it ever comes to fruition it will feature an s duct or a similar design which will share the same core principles and advantages of s duct.
My argument was that s duct even with it's downsides compared to straight duct is a better/superior choice for modern airwarfare environment, and I stand tall on that belief.
Now a better choice thar s duct could come in future, but again s duct is better than straight duct of su 57 even with radar blockers.

i do not think you understand me, ventral intakes can have S ducts but not for stealth but by cockpit or landing gear placement, on Su-75 the landing gear, side weapons bays and landing gear made the placement of the DSI intake much more advanced than copycat J-31 and J-20 that just copied, on Su-75 the Russians knew ventral intakes will have some degree of curvature due to landing gear placement and canopy cockpit position that position the engine higher than the intake using the U shaped intake Sukhoi lowered the bump of the DSI and went farther by using a side intake merge with a ventral intake.

Solutions are not dogmas and Su-57 and Su-75 show that, technology depends in needs and placement of the different systems.

Can you write more clearly, I can't understand your overall sentence, did you mean the reason for su 75's intake design is just to accommodate landing gear, cockpit and other parts?

if you look at F-16, you will see it has a intake duct with curvature, because the intake also houses the nose landing gear, the engine also is positioned a bit higher than the intake

1731572199783.png

what Sukhoi did very smart is they Knew X-32 has a higher intake-fuselage gap
1731572263203.png
1731572281878.png

So the intake goes wrapping the Su-75 fore fuselage this means the landing gear forces the duct to go up and a lower gap hides well the engine naturally and the smaller bump is lower so it generates lower drag, Chinese always copy, so J-31 looks like F-35 but Su-57 goes improving a lot X-32.

The shitty J-35 is far less advanced than Su-75, add the Su-75 is single engined so has much more producibility potential.

The combination of ventral-side intake in the U shaped air intake is good for high AoA and sideslip.

So basically it has the same advantages as an s duct on the top of accommodating landing gear, so even Russian chose s duct like design instead of radar blockers on straight duct.
And if you think they only chose it to accommodate the landing gear then your just wrong.

try to understand this S ducts are not new, they have existed since the 1950s,
Tell me did the J-35 Drakken or F-105 were built for stealth? what about MiG-21?
1731587491017.png
J-35 Drakken had S intakes ducts, same F-105 that even forward swept intake lips
1731587654302.png

Same F-101 all these 1950s used S ducts to set intakes positioned in the wing root reducing fuselage cross section.
1731587816423.png

So stop thinking S ducts were new or for stealth, the decision to set S intake ducts on F-22, J-2-, F-35 or J-35 is based upon a general arrangement configuration.

Su-57 or X-32 use radar blockers for other reasons everything depends in the designers constrains. limits, needs and design goals.

on modern fighters S ducts are for allowing hiding the engine fan blades and allow side and bottom weapons bays.

On Su-57 or X-32 they were to allow excellent air flow and engines with less curved air intake ducts for VSTOL needs in X-32 and larger weapons bays in Su-57, however radars blockers also have cons and pros, F-117 has a radar blocker grilles but externally but that jet is an attack aircraft.

the F/A-18E and Su-57 have different types of radar blocker grilles.

Everything is what the designer wants Su-75 has an U intake using the advantages IAI lavi or F-16 have or even J-10C but improved for lower drag.

I know s ducts are pretty old, even f16's first iteration had it.
And it being old doesn't change anything I said.
As for su57 and x32, their designers prioritizing airflow instead of s duct was a poor choice made by the wrong belief that stealth won't matter as much.

that is your opinion not based upon science, Sukhoi and Boeing think different, but like I said a designer choses upon what consider the advantage will exceed the disadvantage due to a different general arrangement

any way we are not going to agree nor convince each other (designer think the same way too) so enjoy the s intake duct of Drakken.

So let us leave it cheers nice to meet you

Turkish, chinese, Indian designers of 5th gen and even 4th gen seems to follow the s duct path rather than Russian su 57 path, even the newer su 75 design followed incorporated s duct features.
So most of these designers do think similarly that s duct is just overall better, and that's a fact.

let us leave it here, Design is far more complex and you will not convince me neither I will.
Sukhoi has an opinion same Boeing or Lockheed in F-117 and F-22 another let us relax and move on.

The 15th China Airshow is being held in Zhuhai from November 12 to 17, featuring the debut of the J-35A stealth fighter, which Chinese state media has touted as "the world's top stealth aircraft." However, international experts believe this is an exaggeration, with foreign media suggesting that due to a lack of critical technologies, the J-35A may struggle to rival the American F-35.
