Theories like “Lipstick effect” is just small piece of economic indicator of whole economy, i just don't know why you wrote too much words for showing off you knew it. It's the basics of college lecture.
I knew you wouldn't understand advanced concepts trying to link it with topics well within your realm of knowledge which is extremely limited to begin with just like it is with your intellect shaped as it is by your environment & the curricula you've been taught.
The Lipstick effect is gender specific . Show me a woman who doesn't want to look nice wherever her means !
The phenomenon I was referring to was pure escapism. That's what the surge in sales of alcoholic beverages & tickets to movies was in times of great desperation.
When will a person drink himself silly , day in & day out or watch movies continuously ? It's only when he has nothing to do which means plenty of time on one's hands with no future whatsoever.
What's that got to do with looking good all the time which is usually the pre occupation of only one gender unless of course you're arguing men are equally vain.
If you want to counter my disscussion, let me give you a hint, you should try to find enough materials like this, which in 3 years, created same revenue of whole movie industry in China.
The Dramatic Rise of China’s Mini-Dramas
Mini-dramas with minutes-long episodes have taken off in China, although the industry is still struggling to make money from their popularity.

Inside China’s US$5 billion micro drama industry, which has the US in its sights
China’s US$5 billion micro drama industry is booming, but its sometimes ‘pornographic’ and ‘vulgar’ content has the government concerned.

What's unique in this ? It's a common phenomenon the world over including in the west , the Middle East , Latin America , Africa & India ever since the rise of network based platforms like Netflix.
It was preceded by daily soaps the world over pioneered by the US . With the proliferation of cell phones & short attention spans this was bound to happen.
However as usual it seems you didn't read the articles or merely glanced thru the first few lines or paragraphs you read & linked it here because they featured first in your search using the key words micro drama
I say this coz those very same articles comment on how this is a short lived phenomenon irrespective it being noticed & the trend copied by the west & more to the point it's now come under the scrutiny of the CCP censors which has deleted thousands of such videos online & is trying to regulate this phenomenon.
BTW, the movie of Nezha is mostly an independent movie than a legacy one, most of employees come from gaming industry, the similar group of people made Black myth Wukong. It has very limited connection with current movie industry except distribution channels.
See, i gave you exmaple and counterexmaple, be my guest since you don't do enough research.
Frankly if the youth of your country are popularizing a movie which was made by gaming enthusiasts it tells me everything I need to know about the Chinese youth , their tastes or rather the lack of it & the reason behind this movie's success.
If you had a little more intellect you would've immediately seen the pitfalls of this trend. It means the Chinese youth are a dissolute lot , they've plenty of time on their hands coz of high unemployment & money to go with it courtesy their parents's income & savings & the "little emperor syndrome" or another aspect of it - 孩奴 .
Sometime back you were here boasting bas usual about the incredible success of the
Chinese gaming industry & I wrote back on the ill effects of it stating that this wasn't an Eastern or Dharmic trait but a western trait the Chinese were blindly copying.
You defended the move saying it earned a lot of money especially in exports & that the CCP was regulating the industry in China.
Well now here you are. In addition to The Great Helmsman 2.0 & the CCP setting time limits for gaming for children by enacting rules & regulation , you're now faced with this phenomenon of having crossed over into the mainstream where regulating it will be all the more difficult especially now with high unemployment levels among the youth.
Congratulations !
That's why i said you might not had good college education according to my impression and made me to provide you the hints to counter myself.
If you mean I didn't have access to the Chinese education system then you're right & looking at you & your compatriots's response over the years on SM , I'm extremely grateful I wasn't born in Zhongguo which obviously means I wasn't subjected to your curricula.
It's a wasting of my time.
Who asked you to respond then ? You should've ignored it like you do so many posts I make tagging you when you've no arguments.
