As per
@rockdog & his fellow Wumaos , China's achieving near 100% literacy was its greatest boon especially for its women folk . He frequently used those stats to compare with India.
Then the Wuhan virus pandemic happened . Unemployment peaked followed by the real estate crash , debt & bond markets in turmoil with China yet to recover.
To make matters worse women preferred staying single to getting married & if they did marry population being skewed in their favour made them more demanding which meant "left over men " meaning the percentage of men who couldn't get married started growing.
Then came news of Chinese men getting brides from all over the developing world including Africa with rockdog & his fellow Wumaos holding them as exemplars of Chinese agnosticism to race whereas every now & then we saw news reports of how badly Africans are treated in China .
Then came news of Chinese women refusing to have children , preferring their careers over motherhood plus given the costs of living many couples opted not to have children.
The CCP is now desperately trying to remedy the situation by announcing all sorts of incentives from lifting the ban on 1 child families to announcing incentives for more than 1 child to giving more holidays to calling up females in the practically every household encouraging them to have children.
Yet the trend is a rapidly declining TFR which the CCP trying their best to suppress news from getting out has finally admitted to albeit in hushed tones.
Add to that news that homosexuality is outlawed yet growing in China & we're looking at an explosive situation where continued economic downturn reflected in deflation out there can only spell trouble for the future.
What the west & China which can only copy not innovate didn't realise was the fallout of 100% literacy. As aspirations grow thanks to education , the first casualties are manual labor , army recruitment etc especially if the norm is a single child family.
All this happens only if you have an underclass which is RELATIVELY less educated & therefore poorer than the rest . It's politically incorrect to say this out loud but it's a fact.
The tragedy here is given China's rich ancient heritage all this was foretold by their ancients including the many strategists & religious teachers down the ages but Mao & his CCP literally uprooted the second continuously living civilization along with India to bin all ancient thought processes to embrace western ideologies like Marxism & their lifestyle.
The purges followed by the famines during 5 pests campaign , the great leap forward & finally the cultural revolution proved to be the last nail in the coffin for traditional ways of living.
They tinkered around with nature & sowed the wind . They should be prepared to reap the whirlwind even if war doesn't break out over Taiwan. They have brought this upon themselves with unknown unpredictable entities like Trump only serving as catalysts to hasten the bringing on of the inevitable .
It's a great time to be Chinese.
