Hi all,

this is just a brief update from my side over my absence here, as some people here tagged me for various posts, usually those firearms related posts and all, but got nothing as reply, and believe me it's not that I didn't want to discuss about it all, i was just...

the thing is, i'm facing numerous challenges in my personal life rn, from family issues to financial woes and even my physical-mental health is getting affected, as if it wasn't enough my parents are also going through health issues...dealing with all while trying to be active on internet discussion places wasn't possible for me, my peace of mind is completely gone, all the means of coping have stopped working on me, and at times i get thoughts of sleeping forever, to never wake up again

so i'm just distancing myself from things on internet and in real life as well, for now my line of thought is to try to fix something in life within next six months at best and then i may be able to be active on internet again like before; otherwise let's see where life takes me...

All the best. I did the same thing. I came back from the absolute edge. First gotta fix real life and then come back on special occasions like today.

Hey @Arad Operator I'm specifically asking this as you'd have way more insight about this compared to others. @Alby Sir , @Binayak95 Sir or anyone else who has actual ground level knowledge of how things go, please feel free to chip in.

1. What's the biggest reason we take casualties in these CI/CT Ops?
I'm not talking about an Army truck getting ambushed or an IED attack...this is regarding something like when we start a CASO around few houses and then we get news that a Chap got KIA.

2. What should be the (percent) reduction in casualties in these CI/CT Ops if everyone gets proper plate carrier with plates in them too and helmets? And by everyone I mean every single Sipahi, Lance Naik, truck driver, everyone.
No need for accurate calculation, just a rough guesstimation from gut feelings would be more than enough.

make sure you have a few hours for your self in a week, marked in the calendar. our brains don't realise they are being overwhelmed until it's too late.

one time i took up archery, another time i took up paintball, and once even guitar lessons. just to distract the brain from getting overwhelmed.

we r seeing chinese j35 is near production stage...soon (in 4-5 years) pakistan can start getting j35 in chinese soft loans. meanwhile our fifth generation fighter (AMCA) will only came in picture after 2035.

First of all thnx bhai for regarding me as someone knowledgeable about this topic!

1. The biggest reason which I consider caused the maximum of our casualties is the competition among the different units/forces to claim kills. Majority of casualties in the last 2-3 yrs in both Jammu Sector and Kashmir Valley are due to the fact the unit, kill hungry went on OPs on the basis of half cooked INT.

2. Bhai, CI-CT mein casualties toh hogi. No army in the world has gone into CI/CT and came out without any losses(unless they're just their to show-off and do nothing). Those in CI/CT are equipped with both Helmets and BPJs but there's always room for improvement, improved PPE will surely lessen the chances of casualties but no PPE guarantees 100% protection. Won't be appropriate for us to put these stats in numbers.

Was going through some US Army texts on counter-insurgency and perhaps the second biggest reason for casualties was not having enough protection during an ambush. The first one was obviously the fact that there were differences between the local population and the force. This shouldn't be "that big" of an issue for us in Valley as compared to USA in Iraq or Afghanistan.

It was quite baffling to see the breakup of casualties in both US Army and IA. In US Army's case the majority of casualties came from ambushes compared to when an actual proper engagement has begun. In our case we seem to lose more men in actual engagement after setting up an CASO as compared to ambushes.

So I kind of zeroed on the lack of proper PPEs. But this inter-force thing was new to me

Traditionalists do it because they think India is underperforming compared to what it can achieve. They don't see India doing any radical changes and hence criticise a lot though they love India/Hinduism more than any other group.
