PC Builds, Electronics and Home Appliances Thread

We had 10 years old core 2 duo pc, dad used to check Municipality sites/ land /water tax records ITR , YouTube music etc. Shifted, and bought Android tv with HDMI. So mini pc comes handy now.

Another one is waiting to become my cloud storage, but need to buy inverter too for constant 5 min power outage.
Not too clued into IT hardware stuff so bear with me but is Android TV compatible with a mini PC server & secondly if it's 10 years old why not get a new one ? Alternatively can't all this be done on a smart phone @your dad's work ?

Yes, last 5-6 years all TVs have HDMI port, so they will support mini PC though DP/HDMI port

Core2duo was marginally enough for majority of tasks I mentioned.

Big screen + physical keyboard = comfy for old people.

Friends, I am searching for a laptop in market, can't choose whether to go with Ryzen 7 H series or 13th i5, i7.
Guide me, which is better for heavy level programming, power BI, azure level work.
Also battery level is important for me.

16GB RAM lelo minimum, all slack and ides like vscode made with (((electron))) now and all are RAM hogs

This was settled - iPad 10.2 256GB model was bought from Amazon. Will be claiming GST and with discounts final price would be around ~35-36K which is amazing price for 256GB variant.

Is it IPad air or tenth generation regular iPad?

I’m thinking of getting the iPad Air M2 with 256 gb memory. It costs me $641 after taxes. I’m debating whether it’s worth getting Apple Care for two years or I’m just throwing money away

I read that for power BI you need RAM and it's speed matters. 32gb is being recommended for good performance.

Rest you can see multi threaded performance of whichever laptop gives you best bang for buck.

Bro, do generation also matters in this area, like? 11 th generation 32 GB vs 13th generation 16 GB.

Processing power can't replace RAM.
You should see some YT vids about your RAM requirements related to these softwares.

@Nutcracker
Tell me how did you set up cloud storage?
Another idea that came into my mind was instead of trashing old laptops and buying new. How about buying a good CPU box and use it as server and use old laptop as thin client. Link old laptop to CPU box when you require to do heavy processing otherwise for mundane tasks continue to use old laptop?

Rich DFBians who are ready to contribute to Indian Economy.

Datawind is in Bankruptcy, Mitashi is bankruptcy.
🤮🤮🤮 Under congi rule this datawind scammed innocent people with its shitty xhinese tablet , and not to forget the Akash tablet. How the hell they even have 500 employees.
Negative PR so much that looks like they changed brand name to Jeotex.

I'm yet to finalise which platform (win/linux) to use with "docker vm". Then install some docker apps like Plex, immich or photoprism. some are free , some paid , mixed bag. I'm tinkering for whatever spare few hour I had in last 2 months.

Yes you can do that, you will have to set up a remote desktop. I've opted M910q because it has "Wake on LAN". Mini pc will sleep till I wake it up from signalling via LAN.

I only have hardware and plans . Very minimal execution.:alone:

A Ryzen 5 Pro or i5 will be enough for your tasks but you would need to max up on RAM - 16GB to be minimum. Add a decent spec minimum 512GB NVMe SSD and it should cover all bases.

Anything above 10th gen is good enough with little incremental gains.

Its regular iPad 10.2 2022 model.

M2 iPads are beast but people are struggling to find a use case for this much power. It will be future proof for long long time though.

If cost is not a matter than Apple Care is one of the mandatory thing to buy.

All right PC guys - If Blender like applications are to be run and as told some video editing software, along with running MidJourney/Chatgpt locally.

Can you tell me for 32GB RAM, 4070TI Nvidia, what motherboard (with built in WiFi (Dual )), What Good Processor , What cooling , What Case, What fans I can use. I am getting super confused on pcpricetracker.
Is liquid coooling good or air cooling could work. Is it for CPU, whole case or just for graphics card.

I am noob. Note PC can be used for gaming too - esp distant related kids who occasionally come in and might want to hook oculus ripoff kind of oculus kind of stuff

PLease answer as if I am total noob and guide me accordingly. I will not understand shorthands. Last PC build I had seen of my friend was with Pentium 3/4

Budget again 50-60. But can strtech if convincing but wont spend 90+

Since your budget is low, go with AMD processor and GC.
You will need to sacrifice on liquid cooling with your budget.

Best is to play around on PCprcetracker, post link of your build with cost and ask for suggestions.

Again, with your price range, go with AMD. You won't gain much performance improvements with nvidia at that budget.

All right for performance how much and on what stuff should i stretch? Again pcpricetracker - i am noob, i am even not sure which component to choose over which.
i played and my jaw dropped. And i am not even sure what and why i picked. only two components i knew ram and nividia

CPU with more cores are better for this use case which leads to AMD CPUs which have options from 2 core to 16 and even more. I am out of touch with PC specs for long now.
As mentioned by @Prasad - try few builds on PC part tracker.

Yeah mate - I just need few pointers for each components what i should looking for - what price range and what brands. A I said I dont even understand need for two set of RAMS, two set of HDDs, two set of coolers, how many and where the fans are required. WHat motherboard should i go for without getting sucked in for useless stuff.
