Land selected for shipbuilding, repair centres in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu & Gujarat

India plans full-spectrum maritime push to challenge global shipbuilding giants: Report

New ship repair hubs are being planned in Kochi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Vadinar, along with a free trade depot for duty-free imports and a maritime arbitration centre, the Indian International Maritime Dispute Resolution Centre (IIMDRC).

Based developments, hope they push this with the same intensity as the electronics manufacturing and semiconductor fabrication plans.
Shipbuilding is adequately high tech, industrial and yuge employment generator.

Could also have a knock on effect on naval shipbuilding, if per ship price is reduced due to network effects, admirals can go for like 16 frigates at a time, chindi babooze & leaderji will have to approve it

This project is a cornerstone of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. The blueprint includes five greenfield hubs in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, designed as integrated ecosystems for ship manufacturing, equipment production, and allied services.

Complementing these are three brownfield expansions at Vadinar and Kandla in Gujarat, and Cochin in Kerala, focusing on specialised ship repair and large vessel construction.
Land with statutory clearances and road-rail connectivity has been secured, with state governments forming Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) to accelerate development.

CSL & Hyundai tie up makes sense in this push.

imo Govt should play match maker between phoren shipbuilders and deshi Pvt shipbuilders like L&T and Swan Energy( new owner of Pipavav Shipyard )

Also get your Tata and Mahindra types to expand into shipbuilding, through PLI carrots Tata has got into semiconductor and electronics already.
