dont kids have school/colleges to attend and adults have any meaningful work to do?
guess stupidity knows no bounds.
people lives is so cheap in india...11 death nd 50 injured. why cant they celebrate it with their family or friends. always try to avoid huge gathering. we hv no capacity to control huge public gathering. thats why see these type of incidents time to time. these people wants to celebrate with others, now their family nd friends etc r in deep sorrow/disaster.
cheapest thing currently in india is life.If they weren't stupid, this charade of franchise cricket wouldn't have continued for 18 years.
I can understand supporting the national team. This is just nonsense.
Then to go and risk your life to celebrate some random trophy just takes the cake.
Come on in every country there are leagues where people are supporters of the cities. If they weren't stupid, this charade of franchise cricket wouldn't have continued for 18 years.

People who don't watch the IPL just blame the fans and think they are so elite for not watching it, the problem is clearly the brain dead people and the police.
The people saw a gate open and just rushed to get in without giving a fuck about other people and our brilliant police just knows lathi charge for crowd control.
Note :- In India avoid crowded places and try to get away as soon as possible because a stampede can occur anywhere in India and no one is equipped to handle it
Franchise sports DO have the most bloodshed worldwide, not national sports. Far more people in football get injured doing stupid shit over Manchester united vs Manchester city than England vs Portugal. Yes, few arch nemesis national rivalries like England Argentina or India Pakistan ( the king of rivalries) exist to take the cake but by and large don't be surprised with franchise sport craziness. That's the norm in pro sports- you cheer the hardest for your cities/local team and that is bread and butter of sports. If they weren't stupid, this charade of franchise cricket wouldn't have continued for 18 years.

My problem isn't format, it's nature. T20 cricket isn't balanced. My peak cricketing interest was back in odi 90s and tests, where in odis , 280+ was almost always a winning score for almost all the teams and in tests, 300-350 in first innings was an excellent performance.I'm a purist. I find T20 comical, so obviously I can't digest franchise cricket where players are literally auctioned.
The core blame lies on the people, particularly those who brought their kids to this so called celebration.
Marine drive was filled with lakhs post recent world cup win, nothing happened
Honestly if you're a sane person just avoid these crowded events. Mumbai was lucky that marine drive was not space constrained and had plenty of space for the crowd to spill over. The actual stampede occurred when fans were trying to enter the stadium.I'm a purist. I find T20 comical, so obviously I can't digest franchise cricket where players are literally auctioned.

yup...very few people know how to escape stampede situation in india.Come on in every country there are leagues where people are supporters of the cities.

I don't mind format shortening because nobody has time to really enjoy a nobles game they invented to cure their boredom over 5 days.
What I mind, is when balance is lost between bat and ball.
Then it becomes boring to see. I don't like t20 where 200 is an expected score. I want to see t20 where we have pitches and rules that make 150 the break even score and 160-170 being routinely defendable.

The actual good thing from Mumbai's perspective would be that after the open bus paradde only ticketed people were allowed for the post ceremony in Wankhede were the players danced, This thing probably saved a ton of lives that day
