DRDO and PSU's

Indian Companies do not manufacture any automatic transmission. Our Companies only manufacture Manual Transmission and AMT.

Other than that we import Torque Convertor, DCT, CVT from vendors like ZF, ASIN, Hyundai (Supplies Mahindra and TATA).

Man that is such 80 to 90s technology. Indian companies need to get cracking on this.

pakis are ramping up their inventory with mounted and towed artillery supplied by the chinese

We need 300 each of Kalyani's MGS, MaRG and ULH along with doubling the quantity of ATAGS
They are mass inducting Chinese artillery as if some war being mounted on them
We on other hand just announced L1 then clearance contract signing and then delivery will take time and all of these for mere 307 guns when we have requirement for 1000s
I am not getting into debate of which is obsolete or not but we need guns in huge nos
Both artillery and aircrafts are the segment where we are falling apart and both decide the course of war

You're talking about auto sector. There are many manufacturers manufacturing automatic transmission for earthmoving & mining machinery: AVTEC & Beml are two names that I remember.

The list of things we are falling apart is huge, not just these two. No proper gear for soldiers, light helos, drones, heavy and medium lift aircraft, subs, these are the ones I can think of with my limited knowledge. I am sure there are more areas we need to pick up pace and pick it up immediately.

What about the Zorawar ? What kind of transmission will it have ? Don't the T-72 & T-90 have manual transmission ?

I ask coz RoK has had problems developing their own indigenous transmission depending on the Germans for the same for their own indigenous tanks.

This is pathetic state of affairs. It's look like both import lobby in government and armed forces is saying "give us foreign weapons or be ready to lose a war".

That gun should have been in mass production by now upto 500 numbers.

from a different conversation.

indigenisation process of 155mm arty started only after 2011 with dhanush, with first gun produced in 2015. our clock starts in 2015.

Since 2015 the public and private together produced :

AWEIL
- Dhanush (induction in process )
- Dhanush MGS (Proposed)
- Sharang

KALYANI
- ATAGS
- Bharat ULH - 39
- Bharat 45
- Bharat 52
- MarG 155-BR (MGS)

TATA
- ATAGS
- MGS 155/52
- ALTGS (Proposed)

Mahindra
- M777 (assembly) (delivered)

L&T
- K9 Vajra (assembly with modifications) (delivered)

Orders given :
2016 - M777
2016 - K9 Vajra
2017 - Dhanush
2018 - Sharang

Upcoming orders
ATAGS 307

Upcoming trails
MGS

Upcoming RFI
TGS

since towed gun requirement is around 1800 guns, that's where most of the noise is. rest of orders are in 100's, have been a relatively smoother process so far.
