However, former Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO) scientist Dr. Prahlada said it doesn’t look like a hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV) test, with the only difference being the timing of the test being late evening or night hours.

“Moreover, the curvature of the earth and its position in space makes objects going farther away or higher appear as they are heading down.

This is all the more amplified in videos, and it would be difficult to conclude whether it was an HGV test or some other purpose until the launch video is available,” Prahlada said.

When filing this report, the DRDO was yet to comment on testing or release the launch footage.

There were claims that DRDO used low speed and a depressed trajectory to hide its actual range and true potential. “If they had used true potential, speed, and optimal trajectory, the missile would have gone further. This means the actual range is far greater than 5000 km. DRDO fired along the lowest line on the graph to achieve the target distance of 5000 km,” an observer noted.

By “lowest line on the graph,” the comment referred to the three different trajectories of ballistic missiles, all of which follow a parabolic path and leave the atmosphere before reentering it to descend on its target.

Plotted on a graph, they become three large parabolas with different heights and arches, with the lowest one almost hugging and running parallel to the earth’s curvature, possibly still within the atmosphere – or ‘endo-atmospheric’ in military-technical terms.

I wish there was a game like fleet command, dangerous waters but for ABM and BM simulation. Would help a lot as how does different kind of BMs, MARVs, HGV designs affect the performance of different type of ABM systems.
Afterall it's all for reducing detect time and making it harder for ABM systems to intercept.

I don't exactly know to what degree, but I think some ABM/SAM simulations can be done in DCS, or afaik, some modders are at least trying to do weird stuff with trajectories.

I think it was tested to Mach 6 and is easily capable of ~ Mach 9.

Delhi to Islamabad and any city in China with a range of 1500 km. This missile can be targeted in just 5 to 8 minutes. Because the speed of this new secret hypersonic missile of India is slightly more than 11 thousand km /h.

Speed of 11,113.2 km / h in one hour i.e. 3.087 km in one second. The range of this new missile is a little over 1500 km. That means it will take about 8 minutes for this missile to cover such a distance. Delhi to Islamabad 690 km, Karachi 1100 km and Kolkata to Dhaka 250 km and Chittagong 370 km.

Both are different though, brahmos 2 is cruise missiles so it will have less chance of getting spotted due to low altitude flight

I can now say for sure that we practically invented another category of Hypersonic Vehicle. Like Hypersonic Vehicles is not just 1 or 2 but various kinds.

Could be possible, after all the rackling my brain is now trying to fit this missile as a link between a quasi ballistic missile and a more traditional HGV.
