" not a(hypersonic) cruise missile, but LIKE A (hypersonic) CRUISE MISSILE".
"No one in the world has this except india"
"This will be a game changer".

So according to his statement, this is hypersonic antiship missile that acts like a hypersonic cruise missile"

Probably guess that its gonna be travelling low in final stages of flight not like a cruise missile which can travel low in full flight but just the final trajectory

Travelling high in midcourse and low in final stage, similar to a glide vehicle.
Would be fastest during reentry, slower but still hypersonic in midcourse.
Higher subsonic( probably Mach 4) in terminal.
It basically acts like a hgv with pretty low glide ratio but pretty high control ability.
With this we have entered modern hypersonic regime through a missile which Is not part of traditional modern hypersonic category( I.E. full fledged hgv and cruise missile).

Great find as usual. Anyway, I think they should develop another version with RLG-INS for missions requiring more pinpoint precision to supplement the current ones.
What I'm finding bit weird is why we never explored the FOG route. Those are the perfect middle ground between the low cost of MEMS and high accuracy of RLG. Also MEMS can be way more accurate for a given price range and sometimes even surpass FOG, but that requires a robust microfabrication ecosystem like photolithography...which still needs bit work here in India.

By the way, a COTS FOG IMU

Excellent post Ayan! So its a relief that drdo has its own tcs.
I always had this feeling that in no way we would be able to market it with foreign components and that too from a country that's the primary defence contractor of the adversary
at someone or other we're definitely going to sell them guided Pinakas and Israeli would never be happy about it.

We got this capability long ago
We have inducted k4 with our arihant and arighat subs
Why do media report things without knowing head and tail
These are in service trials
So a few of those announced missile launches with Notams were not from pontoons, but from Arihant itself. But probably not at the full 3500km range(?).

Many notams were issued in 2022-23 period of u remember and many tests have been conducted
But in this case particularly k-4 and k-15, these missiles have been tested and are in service with arihant and arighat even before the above mentioned period

K-4 has been tested in lofted trajectory
