DRDO and PSU's

Ok so I heard something interesting they are considering or they are in talks about a Manned Ghatak(ofc a bigger one with more than one kaveri) what do you guys think? And it's just a rumour rn don't shoot me

Currently the only thing we've in the name of Ghatak is a scaled model that can't even retract its landing gears. Now they want a dual engine manned version. Let's say they somehow manage to make one, so what would it be like? Technically shouldn't be something more than a modern-day F-117. What would be its use case?

It feels like the planning/research/manufacturing cartel is quite scared that any day GoI could question them about the recent developments of Chinese fighters, so now they're just making things up so that it feels like they're still in the game, things are still under control.

Arrree it's basically what I used to do in organic chemistry; doodle guns on the last page of the notebook so that the teacher would think I'm doing some rough calculations.

- Tejas deliveries are bogged down because of engines
- We still don't have much for Mk-2
- ORCA despite being better is virtually dead now
- AMCA is on its ways to become obsolete even before production starts
- it's been almost 8 years since the first fund release for Ghatak

But let's make F-117

after you get bored at some point in the future with this weapons configuration trip you are on, and looking for a new topic. would suggest looking at evolution of India's national security doctrine, most of the answers on why somethings don't happen the way you think they should, are flowing from national security doctrine.

and no there is no official national security doctrine that is published by GoI.

Bit generalized statement, but yeah more or less true. Few days ago I only was mentioning this, so I guess I've some rudimentary idea of the said doctrines that are not published

But I'd suggest you to keep your eyes open, or otherwise someone might sweep incompetencies under the rug of national security doctrine. Like lack of PPE, IFAK, night fighting capabilities or on the other end of spectrum, procurement of obnoxiously expensive systems like Victrix Scorpio and robotic dogs.

The Brits thought the much the same way with their Battle cruisers (speed is armor and all that jazz) and then Jutland happened.

And again, they thought much the same way with their infantry tank - cruiser tank and then WWII happened.

Warfighting doctrine or even national security doctrine definitely has a huge impact on how we plan things. For example; given our proficiency in rocketry we can easily make a Sarmat type, 20,000km ICBM. Infact we already have one in the form of S129/S200 booster but didn't bother developing one as there's no adversary at those distances and there's no point scaring Americans or Europeans. Or take sniper for example, the reason we've such abysmal levels of snipers is because for decades our doctrine was based around the Soviet doctrine of using DMRs instead of snipers.

But there's a limit to it.
In 2015, HELINA was first tested from a Rudra. Almost 10 years and still we don't see large scale HELINA deployment on LCH Prachands, when architecture wise Rudra and Prachand are pretty much the same.

See, I too am saying same thing but in one sentence. India doctrine basically is Don’t do anything. Chilax and wait to get BTFKD by enemies and then either hide behind propaganda or give excuses.
