No bloody way MIL (or whatever Oh effing B's children companies are called nowadays) will deliver on time & with quality. Just look at the Shivalik grenade deliveries, Solar Industries delivered all stipulated qty nearly 1yr before deadline and Gormint psu blood sucking effers yet to deliver more than 50% after the deadline....

One wonders why OFB was never disbanded and handed over to pvt players? Maulana don't care or cares more for image & votes from 3rd class commie bastards unions ? Who anyway won't vote for bhajipao. I really fail to understand

I can feel your frustration but 90% of the blame lies solely on the shoulders of the pencil pushers in MoF rather than the employees at the ordnance factories themselves!! I know, quite the shocker!! I used to hold a very similar opinion of them until not so long ago.

It was only after I had the chance to speak with an official from Rifle Factory Ishapore some five years back that made me rethink and somewhat change my position on this matter. His explanation was quite an eye-opener for me.

It isn't that the guys at the OFB aren't aware or do not care at all (well, some bad apples are always there) but they are handicapped by outdated and dilapidated, (and sometimes barely functional) manufacturing equipment, that often breaks down and the employees end up spending more time to try and get those back online rather than doing their actual work!! The management would take it up with higher authorities and ask for new equipment only to get cock blocked by those smug motherfuckers at MoF. (or that used to be the case back then).

The gentleman had some choicest of remarks for these leeches. So if you must direct your totally justified rage at anyone, it must be those fucking IAS baboons sitting inside their cozy air-conditioned little offices.

ordinance factory board has/had an turnover of 19000 crores, and they were showing profits upwards of 1000 crores for some time. and at the same time, even if we take CAG and parliamentary committe reports of a 10-15 years ago modernisation was always on the agenda of OFB.

for example: pinaka order that is getting executed now, was on the agenda since 2013. increasing production capacity has been on cards since then.

jernail says DPSU and babus are at fault,
DPSU and OFB says jernails and babus are at fault,
babu says jernails and DPSUs are at fault.

in sarkari system, they say these things but dig a bit deeper it won't pass smell test.

everybody else is at fault, except themselves.

and on the flipside within the same sarkari system, HAL and DRDO labs manage to find creative ways to raise finances to get things done within the constraints.

one could argue, this is not a systemic issue but rather with leadership of that particular organisation within the group.

I once saw a documentary not very long ago on a certain OFB factory where they literally fill in the propellant charge for a bullet round using bare hands & a regular plastic strainer.

Even the most ordinary factories producing such rounds anywhere in the world use machines nowadays for mass production & more importantly for quality production.

Any wonder then we hear frequent complaints by the armed services of dud rounds or mortars or ammo for artillery in higher than the average or worse of such ammo going off unexpectedly coz of inordinate amounts of charge being filled in ?

What possible leadership at the local level could result in such a scenario? More than privatisation we need a holistic plan to bring these factories upto scratch.

Recently Bharat Shakti in a program on Adani Defence hosted by Nitin Gokhale reported their ordnance factory had around 20-30 ?) personnel producing high calibre ammo rounds running into millions with an extremely high degree of automation.

If I didn't know better I'd say this is a deliberate move on the part of the authorities to eventually shut down these OFB factories by starving them of funds thereby making them inefficient then rendering them to successive negative audits by CAG preparing the grounds to declare them redundant.

It's a time tested method from the GoI's playbook we've seen before like in the case of MTNL for instance. Unfortunately it's coming on the back of our upcoming war against China - the factory of the world .

Clearly, that surpluss amount is no where near what it'd take to completely overhaul an absolute behemoth that is the OFB.

They want to kill WhAp with this which is why they are pushing it and GOI accepted, GoI didn't ask for Stryker, neither did the Import Bahadurs or Baboons however impossible it may sound.

We have no domestic alternative for Chinook, C-17, P8I or MH-60R so those are pricey yet useful purchases, but that is not America's goal, they want Indian dependence on them for front-line combat platforms now, not just transport, support and engines.

afaik Osprey isn't that easy to buy, apart from US only Japan has it.

If this Stryker scam is allowed to achieve it's goal of killing WhAp, then Zorawar and Tejas mk1a and MWF are all next.
