indeed it is good, but for our diverse terrain, randombully saab said that a turboprop would be the best, a400m is in between c17 and mta category, it can lift light tanks and artillery guns which ig c390 cannot

C17 is turbofan. We are using from leh to A&N. We can use C390 also. Point is Embraer showing interest to invest in India. If we are getting assembly and MSME providing sub components. We should go for it.

A400M is EU soup kitche project. Alao US jacking up prices for every second order.

Wow. Great news. So this is true- Navy is pushing very strongly for ASTRA series as its backbone.
March 2025 Test was first of its tests of Indigenous seeker done by Navy for VL-SAM in S2A mode. Now this another test for seeker in A2A mode. .
Love it - Now ASTRA-1 in large numbers for VL-SAM of NAVY. And ASTRA-2 for Mig29K. Great going for Navy.
Air Force would also be interested in ASTRA based Quick Reaction VL-SAM to protect its vital installations. I hope they consider this ASTRA based VL-SAM in decent numbers over much costlier QRSAM. Air Force would not have a requirement of Mobile Tracked requirement to fire on move. Manufacture in large numbers - Augment and compliment SPYDER .
Now eagerly waiting for ELTA20252 and UTTAM firing ASTRA with new seeker and demonstrating cooperative mode later this year.

C-390 is a good platform for Transport planes. We are in dire need and a Local Assembly will be a good thing. Infact we should ask Embraer to introduce manufacturing plants in India. Good chances for them to sell E2 series planes.

If they do not buy anything in return then it is a bad deal.

It's a operational validation test.
Indegenious seeker is used in production missiles delivered.
Only earlier limited series production missiles had russian seeker.

That what happens dude when u dont have merit based hires … that shud be obvious to everyone

okkk...first thing i dont know DRDO etc r getting their employees from reservation. let assume they r doing it. if u think merit based hiring solve engine etc issue. 37% seats fill by merit (unreserved seats), why cant they make engine etc?? DRDO hv 30000 employees, from that near 11100 are merit walas. isnt that many people good enough for any project. u hv hope that later 67% merit walas make u engine etc. what about 100% hiring on base of merit in private companies. why cant they develop engine etc??
second thing, if we really want talented people in DRDO etc. why cant we open hiring from other countries?? why DRDO only providing job to indians, isnt it also a indian reservation. coz reservation means reservering seats for a person, group or community. will u allowed DRDO to hire from other countries? we can get even better scientist than indians.
real problem is about providing sufficient funding for a project nd mismanagement. u r just diverting to another issue.

Astra mk1 uses pulsr doppler based ku band rf seeker.
This one could possibly be upgraded aesa seeker test too.

VL-SRSAM with 40-50km range is equivalent to CAMM-ER (Land Ceptor/Sea Ceptor). Does this have dual pulsed solid motor derived from ASTRA MK2?

Has the official range for it been disclosed?

Aside from the logistics and maintainence issues I don't think we're getting F35 because of T&C imposed by US which will implicitly include "you can't attack US allies with this" where US allies are Packistan now and Bang-la-desh in the future.

BDL or BEL should partner up with Rafael to start manufacturing this locally. Apart from Rafale, SU-30 MKI MLU & Super Sukhoi and LCAs should be getting this. Integration should be manageable as these fighters have local RWR.

The problem is today the Ching has over 3000 jets in service and more being built.
We don't have anything on order which will be delivered.

The GE shitshow will continue and supply chain issues will strike again anytime America is upset with us.

IAF crashes today are worse because they have a bigger impact on our overall capability with fighter jet numbers declining viz adversaries.

It happens when they were basically training pilots on Mig 21's as they didn't have a trainer because it took 20 years to get the BAE Hawk . That's the Indian style .

And when you buy a Thali of jets from all over the place, you don't get the logistics done properly for good maintainence of the jets..
