DRDO and PSU's

It's party time mitron.

That's Astra mk3 employing solid fuel ducted ramjet which can be throttled during its operation. Meaning it can be programmed to generate moderate thrust or even low thrust during the cruise phase. And then operate at max thrust levels during the end game to give it that extra energy to play with. This ensures that Astra mk3 has a huge NEZ, much higher than Meteor, PL-15, PL-21, R-37M, AIM120D3.

It has a higher range than Meteor.

I can bet my left kidney that this even OUTCLASSES AIM260.

And it will be having a gimballed Aesa seeker which will improve the scan volumes this reducing the chance that a hostile aircraft can fly out of the seeker view.

Aesa seeker will also make it more immune to most types of jamming.

Not only this, I hope that drdo continues to improve Astra solid pulse series as well by miniaturising it's systems and making better rocket motors. There is so much scope to improve the basic Astra and mk2 missile. I am not sure but Astra dimensions even might somewhat match AIM260 given that AIM260 dimensions are constrained due to it being required to fit inside IWBs. Which also makes a case for us to invest in somewhat similiar BVR missile with not so much wingy wings and compact enough to tri fit inside an AMCA IWB rather than dual fit. Gandiva in anyway is never gonna be a tri fit inside AMCA IWB.

These are all nice features.

But what i'm asking is, Astra mk3 can be used with a basic su-30 that we have in service? there is no dependency on a deshi radar like Virupaksha to be installed?

It says here the Astra mk1 missile has to be integrated with su-30, are these integrations done?
All astra can be used, but su30mki's current radar won't be able be use Astra mk3 to its full potential.

According to some twitter post, Astra mk3 will fit inside iwb, plus in aero india interview a scientist Said all air to air missiles being developed can fit inside amca
