But atleast in missile tech, orders of indigenous missiles are being given, plus attitude of current air cheif is more supportive of Indigenious systems.
With that Said, possibility does exist of local meteor being in service along with gandhiv for more production lines.

Next to zero chance the French will permit local assembly of Meteor leave aside local mfg . It's part of their crown jewels. We don't need to mfg or assemble it too .

Well now the Chinese are claiming successful tests of a long range 1000 km hypersonic air to air missile , their answer to combat 5th Gen VLO FA of the US & their allies.

When are they putting this on ship? Its like years they have been testing this. Looks like the import gravytrain of MFSTAR will run again with P-17B.

Most likely P18 destroyer will have it, the radar is pretty large in size.
Or rather MF-STAR will be too small and low range for a large 10k ton+ "destroyer"

Anyway an easier option to preserve Rafale/Meteor orders is to play trial-trial and "it's too heavy" games with Astra mk3 Gandiva

It's not meant for fighter jets.
The new 1000km missiles provides an land based strike capability against large american subsonic planes to compliment air launched missiles like pl17.

That 1000km is not capable to attack fighter jets.
ng if modified for air to air role, would do similar role against chinese awacs, tankers etc


That 1000km missile can potentially also target stealth bombers, if chinese detected the bomber using long range L band radars and find out the destination and traget of bomber and send this missile to that location.

If astra mk3 enters service, than France won't have much problem with local assembly or even manufacturing of Meteor, as we would already have the tech.
