This is a PRChinese company, Dixon owns 74% of the JV

Hope they are able to absorb all the tech before the next salami slicing starts
Sunil Vachani is killing it! After all these years of groveling and kneeling before multiple Ministers and babus, getting laughed on the face in response and being mocked for his domestic manufacturing plans that sounded too 'ambitious' when being a 'Micromax' was the norm; man has finally found his niche. Those who bought Dixon in early 2020 (when there were strong rumors of PLI and all that) have probably made a fortune out of it.

Yea most of these ESDM shops here are like 20-30 years in the business, mostly scraping by since the 90s liberalisation since there was no Govt support for exports and domestic manufacturing surviving inspite of "it's so over".

Now everyone is having a "we're so back" moment

Yup, their revenues growing in triple digits and are expanding crazily.

Dixon is doing what 100s of companies in China/Taiwan companies in china have been doing since the late 90s. Build large scale facility equipped with modern SMT lines, cleanrooms and testing facilities. local and foreign companies/brands then will give contracts and the OEM/ODM provide manufacturing services based on the needs of their clients. Due to their scale, they can guarantee certain costs/quality, making it a worthwhile venture for them. By producing large volumes, the OEM can reduce the cost per unit. Higher production levels spread fixed costs over more units, improving margins. Remember this is an extremely low margin industry, with majority of companies making 5% margin maximum (Dixon themselves are at 3% currently). At least we finally have 1 company in India that understands the importance of scale. It is also good that all of Dixon's expansion so far is in Noida. Close to cargo facilities that can ship out products for export in the future

They should take land in Gujarat which has access to Mundra port. They can ship out products even cheaper and faster. With Noida they have access to only air freight.

I'd assume they export/import via the ports since Noida is connected to all other cities of the land via road and maybe rail( not sure ).

Air freight is just too expensive.

Anyway Noida is the only exception for manufacturing, most people just choose Chennai or one of the surrounding towns/cities
Because Port

Saar, Noida has Dadri nearby in Greater Noida, that's where the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor originates.

Not just Noida, they have expanded in Ludhiana too with a 300cr plant opened recently. Ludhiana also benefits from Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor.
