Haier is investing ₹300 crore for manufacturing of components like injection moulding and printed circuit boards in India.

The Chinese refrigerator and television maker has reached out to local component manufacturers to set up plants near its production units, and one such facility - producing wire baskets for deep freezers - has already come up near its Pune plant, he said. Next in line is refrigerator door glass manufacturing by local companies, Satish said.

Oppo India managing director for R&D Tasleem Arif posted on LinkedIn three weeks back. Oppo's smartphone local value addition is expected to double from 18-20% by 2026, he had said.

Vivo, in a recent India business report, said all the motherboards used in its smartphones in India are assembled locally. So are all packaging materials and over 90% of fingerprint sensors, batteries and chargers. The company said it has developed some of the local suppliers with "significant support" and now wants to locally procure high-value components.

HCL-Foxconn OSAT JV begins scouting for EPC partners

The HCL-Foxconn joint venture is scouting for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner for its upcoming chip facility.

On the lookout: Sources told us that the JV is in talks with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Taiwanese major CTCI, who have extensive experience working with Foxconn. “There was a preliminary discussion to see who could be partners for the facility because HCL-Foxconn is hoping to receive Cabinet approval by the end of this month,” one person cited above told us.

To be clear: EPC companies manage projects from initial design and engineering to construction and completion as a single point of responsibility for the entire project lifecycle.

Up for grabs: L&T specialises in EPC projects, hi-tech manufacturing, and services and has a presence in eight countries beyond India.
Taiwan-headquartered CTCI operates in sectors such as environmental engineering, refineries, petrochemicals, transportation, industrial facilities, advanced technology plants, and LNG terminals. It was involved in building TSMC’s chip plant in the US.

Greenlight awaited: The JV is awaiting Cabinet approval for its Outsourced Semiconductor and Test (OSAT) facility, which is expected to be the first of its kind in Uttar Pradesh. Foxconn, which is reportedly investing $37.2 million, holds a 40% equity stake in the venture.

Yield Engineering Systems, Inc. (YES), a materials and engineering equipment solutions provider, on Thursday said that it has become the first player to ship from India a key semiconductor manufacturing equipment called the VeroTherm Formic Acid Reflow tool to a leading global semiconductor manufacturer.

AS far as I remember we had some media reports of PLI being discontinued, looks like all were made out of thin air.

Too much sensationalism. PLI is underperforming due to selected companies taking more time to achieve the targets. Meanwhile Cabinet committee themselves ask PLI in key sectors like Ship building. So government is still backing PLI. Even DLI schemes were getting back up. For now the issue how to improve the overall process so we can speedup the results

Most probably Raul Baba apes making this noise.
