Like I said previously, Hindu Boomers are merely mental slaves. They can't criticize goras or mullas.

The environment they grew up in saw both mullas and goras as being better than Hindus.

So, they have a huge inferiority complex with both and hence are incapable of dehumanizing mullas and goras. A classic case of stockholm syndrome.

Young Hindus today have no problem calling goras all sorts of names and dehumanizing them. Can you imagine our parents or grandparents generation dehumanizing goras? More or less same applies to mullas.

How so? The crops they are sourcing would continue to be farmed anyway (because of generous agri subsidies). Seems a way to make use of surplus production in the short term. And before anyone complains about agri subsidies - they have been gradually cutting down on some subsidies for the past few fiscals, phasing out will take time.

Sugarcane production should be cut as much as possible. We must only produce whatever we need and we shouldn't even think of exports i.e we shouldn't have surplus in the first place.

The crop is a water guzzler. Granted it's great for our Forex reserves and such but I do tend to lean a bit towards water conservation.

Our grandparents village for example has gone from having 50% of the total crop being sugarcane to barely planting it these days as water levels in irrigation wells have fallen over the last 20 years.

Irrigation wells in my childhood used to be 75% full, these days I barely see any well being 25% full. Situation is improving since last 5-6 years as people are realizing the importance of water levels.

Agri subsidy schemes/MSPs (the reason why they have such massive surplus in the first place) are being phased out/modified gradually in favor of some other crops (that we import) already. No govt of the land will do anything more daring given the state of political economy. Such ill thought subsidy/MSP programnes should not have been introduced to begin with, they have already hollowed out an entire state (punjab).
