Raitas are rejected liberals basically. It wasn't that long ago when most of the so-called RW used to claim that actual liberals are not liberal enough because they don't criticise Islam while the true liberals are infact them, the newly minted BJP voter base. Thank God that seems to have died an unobtrusive death though we still have those like AIM who for some reason are considered ideologues for this side.

AIM is a beef Eater. I don't think any true Hindu can eat beef.

He supports BJP because the alternative is Mulla appeasing Congress and we all know what happens to Gays like him when Mullas are in power.

The avg 'Hindutvawadi' you run into is still quite a moderate relatively whose 'political Hinduism' is more because he is afraid of mainly Islam and not because of any real commitment to or grasp of Dharma & Hindu scriptures. A 'moderate' Muslim who partakes in every aiyaashi is still more radical than most of them judging by having interacted with them in everyday life, events like JD as well as ofc SM.

My own aapbiti with a momin best friend who never prayed or fasted - ergo munafiq - and who I used to clink with regularly is quite similar who used those occasions to do tableegh & keep talking about Islam, farishta, profit, Zakir Naik, 2002, 92 Babri all the time, the extent of which I only came to fully realise long after the fact. The red line for him was Yakub memons hanging because according to him voting for BJP made you responsible for death of someone who they all thought was innocent.

Around 12 months ago, got introduced to a mulla via my Hindu friend.

My Hindu friend sources his raw materials for his business from this mulla. Mulla is a clean shaven mulla who looks kinda naive and relatively modern. He's about 30-35 years old.

6 months back, Mulla assumed I support TDP party in Andhra due to my caste and started bad mouthing BJP because of article 370. Remember, this is a mulla in Andhra whose heart was bleeding for article 370 in Kashmir.

Kept my cool and said that BJP is being soft in Kashmir and that Democracy should be removed permanently in India and military should takeover the entire country. Mulla stopped talking politics with me since then.

This is the state of a modern, educated, relatively naive looking mulla way down in Andhra. I can only imagine how radicalized the rest of his lot are.
