Indian Army Armored Vehicles

It looks like the WhAP (Wheeled Armored Platform) has already seen action against Naxals in 2024.

The newest addition to the forces’ arsenal is WhAP or the Wheeled Armoured Platform, jointly designed by Tata Advanced Systems and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). An armoured troop carrier, it has weapons control inside the vehicle and anti-mine abilities. This platform has helped the forces take the battle to the Naxals when under attack. Last year, when Naxals attacked the CRPF camp in Tekulagudem in Telangana, second-in-command S.S. Haokip commandeered the WhAP that used its MMGs to open fire at the huddled insurgents. This was the first time the Naxals had witnessed a WhAP in action, forcing them to beat a hasty retreat.

Why they are manufacturing it? It is Mahindra's product and they had the deal to produce it, right?
Its a MNREGA scheme for OFB babus. For that, the vehicles have to be disassembled and shipped to the jhopad-patti of OFB where its again reassembled to final product, along with much famed QC of OFB Babu Corp.

Then at least they should have stopped recruitment right?

Based 1300 ordered for 1056crore rupees.
Per unit cost of armado is ~80lakh or around 100k dollars.
For comparison current "inflation adjusted" per unit cost of humvee's m1 114varient( normal armour stanag 1) in 2004 was 260k dollars( when multiple fold more orders were given compared to armado's order of 1300, so industrial advantage was with humvee)

But still armado is ~2.5 to 2.7 times cheaper than humvee while being lot more modern and not inferior in armour and mobility and troop capacity compared to m1 114 standard varient of humvee

One of the main advantages armado has is almost negligible development cost of armado compared to development cost of humvee at that time when it was a new concept at that time.
Along with taking "some" advantage of ppp.

If indian army allot 2 billion dollars right now( and spend it over the span of a decade)
We can have 20k+ plus of such vehicles in service by 2035 in different configurations.

Alas I hope to see atleast 5k more orders by 2027😔 .

Ordnance depot (avadi) comes under IA ordnance corps southern command.
Armoured vehicles nigam limited (avadi) erstwhile HVF comes under Ordnance factory board.
separate entities co-located in avadi.
last year too, LSV were dispatched from here.

does this mean AVNL is assembling mahindra armado?
unlikely, otherwise AVNL PRO would have made sure the world knows about it, if their organisation is doing it.
