Indian Army Artillery Programme (1 Viewer)

World class indigenous product, just around 15 crores(import ones cost about double), least to mention the export potential. Deploys in about 80 seconds and ready for scoot in about 80 seconds armoured cabin 155/52 cal... Crew of 6 people.. Above all the looks of it is 🔥🔥🔥....

Hats of DRDO(gun), BHEML(vehicle) and Kalyani(gun design/production partner)👏👏👏

I don't know if multiple IA DG Artillery were this far sighted or it was their inertia (slow modernization) and things just turned out favorably with the coming of drone era war fighting and transparent battlefield (with satellite and other ISR). Listening to Gen PR Shankar podcasts, I am more inclined to think that it is the former.

When everyone was going the way of mobility and putting less emphasis on number of barrels. IA stuck to large number of towed guns. Even has around 500 155mm converted M-46 guns.

In Ukraine, with the proliferation of loitering munitions and FPV, UA is forced to dig in a M109 artillery and use it from there. Essentially, a towed gun can fulfill the same role as tracked gun in this case. The number of barrels/tubes and ammunition is a more critical factor. IMO this specially applies to IA artillery scenario along LOC's and LAC's Himalayan terrain where fighting is expected along static and prepared defensive lines.
