Indian Army: News and Updates

Only 480 ! Again emergency procurement, so normal procurement for 50k loitering ammunition will go out to the jooz I suppose

IMO we got a variety of LMs, from Polish WarMate to Nagastra, and if I remember correctly there are more ordered in small numbers by Army.

I think Army is evaluating the performance by ordering small numbers, and the one which satisfies their requirement will get larger orders. Same happened with IdeaForge Switch, they got repeat larger order after the first batch performed satisfactorily.

India plans to sign a contract with Russia to purchase an advanced early warning radar system for missile attacks, the Voronezh-M. This was reported by the Indian TV channel India Today. According to it, negotiations on the deal were held with the participation of representatives of the Indian Ministry of Defense and the Russian concern Almaz-Antey, which produces the radar. According to the data, at least 60% of the Voronezh radar is planned to be produced in India, the contract amount is about 4 billion dollars. The Voronezh-M radar is planned to be installed in the city of Chitradurga, Karnataka state. This is a strategically important area, where important facilities of the Indian defense and aerospace industry are already operating. Radar stations of the Russian early warning system of the Voronezh type began to be used in 2006, they are capable of detecting targets at a distance of up to 8,000 km. So far, only Russia, China and the United States have radar systems with a range of more than 5,000 km in their arsenals.

What did China gain in its 2020 mis-adventure in Himalayas.

That era of 2020 Chinese spring offensive is fresh Indian public in mind.

The Chinese in Ladakh pretended a big military exercise. Yes, that exercise was a ruse to change the LAC. Their additional 20,000 new soldiers in fact came to intimidate India at the passes. Their first act was Galwan Valley where they succeeded in pushing closer to DBO road and killed Indian Soldiers. Then they wished to extend their occupation on the Pangong Lake periphery. They succeeded there also. At that time time India had less than 20,000 troops in Ladakh and Demchok area. Chinese had the troops numbers advantage but they suffered a great troop disadvantage, that most of the new Chinese soldiers not used to high altitude fell sick and then additional troops had to be deployed from Sinkiang region with similar health results. Hence their total strength went up to 50,000, but their capability was lowered.

Chinese thought that India would not be able to muster their troops in those numbers as infrastructure on Indian side did not exist to support as many as 50,000 troops Chinese had. Well they were proven wrong. It took 15 weeks during India’s summer month to bring additional troops from the rear. Also they had to be acclimatized to the high altitude before posted. Hence it took that long. Hence man to man Chinese and Indian troops were now equal in August.

That surprised the Chinese completely. Now the reversal of fortune for over confident Chinese had begun. In a surprise move, on August 30th, India occupied the Kailash Heights overlooking Chinese garrison on Pangong Lake. Now this Chinese base at Maldo was within Indian artillery fire. That surprised Chinese completely. They sent tanks and reinforcements but Indian posturing was so complete that Chinese tanks stopped 200 yards below, without firing.

Now whatever was Chinese advantage till then, turned into an Indian advantage. There was a lot of Chinese propaganda some initiated by China supported Indian journalists but for them there was only one way out, either bloodshed in the Himalayas or they negotiate and withdraw from whatever they have occupied in last three or four months.

Totally taken by surprise, Chinese did not wish to give up their gains but Indian sitting on Kailash Heights made sure that Chinese now negotiate in good faith. It took a year more but finally Chinese moved back from Galwan valley and their forward movement in Pangong Lake area. Other unimportant places like Hot Springs, Gogra etc. were also vacated by them.

It is an Indian victory although at Chinese request it was not heralded as Indian Victory.

Two other places in Demchok and Depsang plains were not talked about as these were legacy issues. It took full three years and India building military muscle that persuaded them to withdraw from these places also.

Hence, what did Chinese gain in this mis-adventure;…… mostly they lost. They were forced back with clever military moves and hefty Indian diplomacy with power behind it. A bit of Putin of Russia had a role. He convinced Chinese that they cannot fight on many fronts including Philippines, Taiwan, Japan & US. Hence wisdom prevailed on them and Chinese finally left with empty hands.

Now on LAC in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh; Indian infrastructure build is nearing completion. That means whatever advantages Chinese thought they had, are gone. Now their capability to pinpricks will still continue but unlikely to succeed. Indian recon, other surveillance means will force Chinese to think twice. Other Chinese advantage of their inaccurate missiles has also been neutralized. Now Chinese do not have strength and hardware to breach LAC anymore.

The issue now is for how long will India keep up this vigilance, will we fall back into the old habit of chalta hai attitude and let the Chinese try another misadventure next time and what happens if that time we are unable to recover like we did this time.

Guys, Question. How big of an uproar will there if the govt decides to remove the British era regimental system? And is there any genuine benefits of our current regimental system?

There is too much kanging of "Muh Regimental System prevents Coups" from some people who forgot that India itself is a amalgamation of Cultures. If you put a tamilian, punjabi, telugu and hindi person together, even without regimental system why would they bother obeying any one top brass who is attempting to coup? Coups only happen in extremely homogeneous countries and not diverse ones like ours.

zabardast mockery
Every one understands that this is pointed towards China but this is seriously embarrassing.

Well these "veterans" as well as others bitching about this whole topic are the usual suspects. Jumping the gun just to spew venom without even checking facts.
THEY ARE TWO SEPERATE IMAGES IN TWO IDENTICAL ROOMS!

Here's ADGPI shutting that discussion down without even saying a word about it!
