Your Calculator analogy is incorrect. Unlike a calculator, which performs predefined operations, AI can learn, adapt, and make decisions across a vast range of tasks.
AI isn’t just about doing one thing faster—it’s about enabling machines to mimic, and sometimes exceed, human cognition across domains.
When i was in the LPG operations, the AI enabled machines could read even the dirtiest and rusted cylinders, many of which the human eye would struggle to decipher. This was 2016-2017 AI technology, when we were still using tools like Haar cascades. Today, the gap between the AI of 2017 and the AI of 2025 is comparable to the difference between the Wright brothers' plane and the F 35 5th-generation stealth fighter.
So in less than a Decade we have made a centennial jump in AI,just imagine how things will be 10 years from now.
Damn, I couldn't said better than you. Neural networks were from the 1950's or 1960's. But we did not have the hardware to make it a reality. When this data hype came along in early 2010's I thought all this Data Science, Machine learning looks like glorified statistics. Yes, these things will have an impact because as a field grows there will be lot of tools which will come along and everyone adopts it if they see they can create value for their businesses.
But ever since ChatGPT came along, the amount of shit people are spewing about how AGI will become a reality is absolutely nauseating. Humanity has not created any machine which has got the situational awareness of an ant. And these morons are claiming they can create a machine as intelligent as a human brain. I always maintained, the best we can create is a narrow artificial intelligence. Calculator is a narrow artificial intelligence. It can do one thing and it can do better than humans. Did calculator replace all the accounts? No. It only augmented their skills. The same is true for LLM's. It will augment the skills of Software Engineers but not replace it.
used chatgpt to create a few chrome extensions . i simply gave it the requirement and it gave me the source code . one had an error , i told it and it came up with a solution . this would be unthinkable a few years ago.
its not AGI but key thing here is how fast the tech is improving . very possible we may get AGI in this decade .
Humanity has not created any machine which has got the situational awareness of an ant
of course we have , they are there in video games ,![]()
The current language models cannot reason, FULL STOP.
It gave you the "source code" because the solution was some sort of "boiler plate" code (written by a human) that already existed for the Chat GPT to train on. It did not generate a novel idea/process/algorithm for you.
AI is 90% hype, 10% substance. The hype is being exploited by the big cash-rich corporate to normalize the 70+ hour work weeks. It is very similar to the "Global Warming" hype which was carefully crafted to pass off the blame from the oil/automotive companies to the end consumers.
On top of that there exists one of the most important theorems in "Computer Science" called the Halting Problem which effectively says that "A computer program cannot analyze the behavior of another computer program". AI is whatever, but fundamentally speaking, it is a computer program.
You are talking about Computer vision if I am right. Again, everything depends on human generated data. Can it decipher Indus valley civilization script? No. Whatever that we call as AI is doing it is doing so with data generated in the past by the humans. There is sure some automation but nothing close to what we call as Artificial general intelligence.
It’s kind of strange, but I recently learned that many Muslim students, both girls and boys, from Indonesia are studying Buddhism at Nalanda University. The university also offers courses in Hinduism.

Hindus shouldn't get carried away. Such Muslims who have a fondness for the past are a small minority.Because many of them (specially javanese) know and accept that their ancestors were hindus and buddhists. That's why you will see many of them with hindu or sanskrit names.

Most are proud of them converting to the desert cult. This is a Malay but more or less same applies to Indonesia.

Yeah. Islam is such that no matter how liberal you are for decades or even centuries, all it takes is 1 generation of a retard coming to power to radicalize the entire society.Indo baboons went on to become hardcore hijab/skull cap wearing Ms from being Muslims only in name in 50 years flat courtesy of heavy arab and malay influence. Hijab wearing indos were a rare sight up until the '90s, not the case anymore.
doesnt have to reason . everything is a remix of other things .
llm code generation isnt simple like word replacement or filling a form with missing fields , far more sophisticated than that. ur average IT walla doesnt come up with new algorithms to build software , vast majority of it is just repetition .

True. It was also indirectly supported by western deep state, because they were concerned about communist grassroots groups in the country.Indo baboons went on to become hardcore hijab/skull cap wearing Ms (from being Muslims only in name) in 50 years flat courtesy of heavy arab and malay influence.
