the first example you cited is second order effects of cash flow, the reason they dig up roads a few months after laying them is primarily because it costs more to lay ducts for utilities upfront along with the roads, it's cheaper to dig, put the pipe and redo the asphalt.

in ayodhya redevelopment, they have done this utility ducts along with roads. for a small town like ayodhya, as of last year total redevelopment cost estimate as per master plan is 30,000 cr. . that kind of investment, only a few cities in India can recover the cost.

But sir for that they destroyed the whole newly built road not some 2feet wide strip in the road . What was the sense of making road if you are going to destroy it 15 days later it is just a ninja technique to hide corruption.

more than corrupition,it shows how inept our organizational ability is, basically agency that lays roads, has no coordination with agency that lays pipes.

One thing is how expensive it's to lay proper footpaths and ensure there is no encroachment that alone would make our cities look better,

States keep coming out with schemes to build underground roads,flyovers but fail to just build functional footpaths which makes the city walkable.

Then what kind of solution is there ? Are gonna wait till small cities get enough money (god knows when),
another thing I might add is many indian cities and towns utterly lack any kind of park and roaming space.

i do not know enough to talk about solution, can only talk about info that i have picked up when i was looking into this. if this issue is troubling you so much, my advice would be to deep dive into annual reports of local bodies, spend some time figuring out PWD works tender costing for each public utility and trends.


generally i would suggest, it would be unwise to extrapolate on topics which are high denominator by nature, like potholes etc.

on a lighter note...

let's say there are 6,617,100 lakh km of roads in this country, do the multiplication factor for potholes or cracks etc. how many potholes can one get angry about, considering there are only 365 days in a year. even if you get upset about one pothole or a road crack per km per day, there are still 6,616,735 out there which comes to a probability of 0.000000151142595 . that's how miniscule it is.

worry about the city you currently live in, and the city you want to live in, rest is all noise. in my view it is stupid to worry about potholes and roads nation wide.

if we ignore the noise, the trend is in the right direction. it is a fact that as economic activity of the country grew, we are seeing that quality of service is also improving along with it.at India scale these are large time frame topics that should be viewed decade by decade.

TBH , I don't really care about pothpoles all that much, but Plastic waste management is quite bad in alot of places, and issue of clogged drains relates directly to poor solid waste disposal.

on plastic waste, there are few projects going on. it's for local bodies to co-ordinate and supply feed stock to such projects going on in their area. this is one of them.

Sir, Don't talk about parks and roaming spaces. We will blame the govt. and all but not the public. Its public mostly who do not want it. People do not leave any "aangan" in their homes, just build it from front to end.
In HR, govt. gives water connections and do not charge any fee if the water connection is outside the house, the pipe do not enter the home. I don't know why. But i have nearly full colony having these outside connection to save a few tens of water bill. Mind you these people are from old City Baniya colony. They have more than enough money but would not give an extra few tens to the govt.

So, all in all its the people also who will have to share the blame. Thankfully, These old cohorts will retire out post 2035 and become irrelevant as those who are born in Modi regime gain more maturity. Only than changes will happen in this country.
