Indian Economy

This would be as ridiculous as the gormint opening random humanities/fashion tech departments in IITs in an effort to prop up their global rankings without spending meaningful resources or the afeemchis/chongs kanging on their maths Olympiad medals (despite bagging a grand total of zero Fields medals till date). But this gormint craves validation so won't be surprised if they start gunning for yet another d*ck measuring contest - even though our own learning outcome surveys are just fine.

If the measures are as accurate as they portray, you would say something with confidence. But instead, you craft this word salad response. If you want India to be the best, you have to compete with the best. That's China, that's America. That's western europe.

edit: These are sample questions. Don't skip directly to the math/science part. Reading comprehension is just as important.

1. 10lacs - 20 Lacs
2. 20 lacs - 50 Lacs
3. 50 lacs - 3 Cr
4. 3 Cr-10 Cr
5. 10 Cr - rest

Tax rate not decided yet!

Government teaching jobs have honestly become a joke. Instead of being a way to spread literacy and actually educate kids, they’ve turned into just another "sarkaari naukri" that attracts all sorts of unmotivated people. My mom is a government teacher, and I’ve seen firsthand how things work. While the older generation of teachers genuinely cared about their students and went the extra mile to teach, a lot of the recent recruits are just in it for job security. They don’t see it as a serious responsibility—just a paycheck.

One of the biggest scams is attendance. Some teachers literally just show up, mark their presence, and then disappear. A simple fix? Biometric attendance for every class, just like we had in engineering college, and the data should be uploaded in real-time for officials to see. They can take attendance of both teachers and students. We did an UPI, I don't believe this is hard.

Then there’s the joke that is teacher training. These days, any random person can get a B.Ed degree from some shady college and worm their way into the system. There’s no real training, no focus on how to actually teach—just rote learning and passing some exam. What we really need are proper National Universities for Teaching like those seen in Developed Countries, where admissions are based on standardized tests that corrupt state governments can’t manipulate. These universities should actually train teachers properly and award M.Ed degrees, which should be the bare minimum for high school teaching. Until we fix these issues, government teaching jobs will keep being a magnet for sankari job rent-seekers.

Randians needs something to do randi rona.

The day without randi rona is the day lost for randians.

Meanwhile Public transport is more for bringing people to transit rather than Profit as core. I have gripe with this guys for not encouraging multiple mode of public transport in various cities. Instead they went with Metro everywhere. Now we need to develop the metro further to make them meaningful

Nah, we have seen worse. ET and BS routinely publish Andy Mukherjee's op-eds.

Also, it is Mihir Sharma of Gloomberg. What did you expect?

The under construction and planned metro and RRTS lines across the NCR, Greater Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Hyderabad are definitely not 'white elephants'. And these lines make up for like 80% of the pipeline (possibly more). Clown Mihir is talking out of his ass like he always does.

Bihar along with WB will ensure they remain the primary states among the larger states to supply labour for at least another 2 generations now that UP seems to be fast exiting this category.

No problem I say. If we get our act together to emerge as a mfg destination , we need to develop the coastal states first much like China did before moving into the hinterland.

It's only after that states like Bihar & WB come into play .

randians are also calling this out

Anyway certain hit-jobs are very on the nose like this one or usually whatever Andy-Mihir put out.

The downfall of WB is a major reason why Bihar (and eastern UP) remains backward.
