I don't think any government has funded that much on R&D tbh. Most of the project throughout history of DRDO end up becoming internal projects. Even AMCA was one..This has been the issue since a long time. Every successive governments promise to increase the R&D budget of DRDO yet they only do some minor 2-3% increament at best. Let us not get into that it boils my blood and brings a bit of frustration. All our governments have been chindi when it comes to indigenous product development. The only difference is approach towards foreign system.

When you provide free food to 900 million people to win elections then there is not much money left over .

This radar has peak power of around 25KW compared to 5-6KW for Bars-M radar.
Not sure if SU30MKI with AL-31FP and current gearbox has enough reserve power. Maybe a new more efficient gearbox can provide the additional power but it will be challenging.

very good interview, this one is a crash course on entirety of evolution of defence industry of India, every sentence has years and decades of hardwork by thousands of people involved to get here.

it's always a pleasure to talk to and listen to people in that particular mindspace, it comes only when a person has seen so many cycles and genuine first hand experience in trouble shooting so many times that nothing surprises them anymore.

hey bro some questions:-
1:- is it desi jamming pod?
2:- is it going to replace isreali elm 8222 jamming pods used in su 30 mki? which is consider itself a aesa radar jammer.
3:- DRDO also developed GAN based ASPJ (advanced self protected jammer), which looks like even more advance than these jamming pods. why we need this talon shield?
