since O G Bhim SPH used a south african howitzer that was forked from same GC-45 whose fork is also used in Bharat-52, this is literally Bhim SPH revival in spirit

He should rather get involved with PSUs to use Arjun Chassey and that locally manufactured 1000 bhp copy of Tin-90 engine or better DATRAN 1500 bhp derated engine fork for this for further atmanirbharta

Hope he soon gets desi tech developed to further get away with some Israeli Elnit components off the original Bharat-52 and this supposed SPH project as well

Han yeh karlo
Won't induct tapas bh
Won't induct archer rather cancel it I don't know who that BA pass ignorant babi was to cancel archer
Forget archer
No finding for archer-ng
Ig due to so many incidences people have forgot our uav mess

Seems to me this is intended towards Loitering Munition drones and not HALE/MALE drones.

Things that are basically ammunition and not "platforms" that are re-usable

Tbh blaming the government is useless when DRDO hasn't been able to build a proper propulsion system for HALE/MALE UAVs. And IAF will never accept those drones when better options are available in the market.

DRDO chief himself says they are struggling with making a propulsion system and it will take 10 years on our own. That is why we have probably joined that Eurodrone programme as observer to get as much tech as possible before exiting it.

I know but still I wanted to convey the mess being made out of it so I quoted that post

It makes no sense to deny induction of tapas bh when u already committed 76 nos of it and one u come and say it doesn't satisfy ur needs
That shows nothing apart from their evil interests and foreign influence bcoz the gap between 2 decisions were hardly 3-4 months
They shouted on top that they were ready to compromise their requirements to induct indigenous drones in mass but after 3 months they went back to their usual state
Did they induct any significant MALE drone after this fiasco, I am damn sure Adani is well behind killing tapas bh and sadly even so called indigenous adani drone didn't meet required specifications
Ab kis muh se Israeli mal induct karenge

Apart from it there was again no reason to cancel archer it would have been cheap disposable and truly gamechanger for us

What rubbish, HAL has been license-building the same Garett turboprop engines for 4 decades that are also used in the iconic Predator/Reaper drones. Apart from that we've built multiple piston engines for UAV applications including the Archer-NG and Rustom drones. Apart from that we have 3.73KN turbojet and 4.5KN turbofan engines for UAV applications, CATS Warrior literally uses our own turbojets. HAL has been producing a lot of engines under license for the aircrafts we produced here, What else do they need? This sounds more like an excuse. HAL can make HTT-40 and Do-228 with GARRETT TPE 331-5 engines, the same used in MQ-9 Reaper, but DRDO can't 🤡?

DRDO if it wants can make a HALE class UCAV with 2x STFE Manik engines. The Chinese WZ-10 uses similar class engines in twin engine configuration, nobody has stopped them.

HAL and DRDO don't share technologies that often. DRDO does it's own thing. HAL does its own.

Anyways Our indigenous MALE/HALE UAVs use Russian engines. And DRDO was working on indigenous engines. Which fell short.

DRDO can source engines from Russia but can't buy it off from HAL? Again, pathetic excuse. Here is another Indian engineering firm that license-produces Ivchenko Turbojets in India. Again, nobody has stopped them from using these as an option.

Rather, propulsion is rather amongst the least of concerns of our UAV ambitions. I know DRDO is facing problem in terms of diesel engines especially in 220hp class, but it already has a 180hp engine, use it at least.

I think they are struggling with configuration. They are not being able to get the required endurance for their drones with the configuration they are going with. Their drone needs some kind of design overhaul.

@FalconSlayers
I have read that and I can see it is a cope. Archer-NG isn't the only thing we're building. I don't know much about how a new project is initiated but if it is DRDO which starts a new project if not the government asking them to do so, then yes DRDO can build a lot of UAS with domestic propulsion if not foreign. Also, let's not forget the current government spends not even shit on R&D otherwise we would've had multiple more propulsion systems available.

I don't think any government has funded that much on R&D tbh. Most of the project throughout history of DRDO end up becoming internal projects. Even AMCA was one..This has been the issue since a long time. Every successive governments promise to increase the R&D budget of DRDO yet they only do some minor 2-3% increament at best. Let us not get into that it boils my blood and brings a bit of frustration. All our governments have been chindi when it comes to indigenous product development. The only difference is approach towards foreign system.
